Comet Connection

November Edition

Principal's Message

Greetings Britt Families,

We have made it to November. School is in full swing, and your children have been busy learning. I want to thank those of you who were able to participate in our parent conferences. These meetings help to cement our partnership in growing your child. If you could not attend, please reach out to your child's teacher, who would love to share the great things your child is doing at school.

Our book character day was a great success. The students' excitement and effort in their costumes made this day great. A few pictures are below, and more can be found on our Social Media. I hope you can connect with us to keep up with this and all the great things we are doing a Britt. Information can be found below on how to connect with us.

Tuesday, November 9 is a Digital Learning Day. Classes will meet online at 9 am. We are also having our in-person Fall Festival at 5 pm along with our Book Fair family night. Come as you are or in your favorite book character costume and have some fun at Britt.

November 18 is National Parent Involvement Day, and we would like you to participate in your in-person child's classroom activities. This year's event will be virtual so that we can maintain COVID protocols. Watch your email for information from your child's teacher about our event this year and participate if you are able.

We are working with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta to encourage our students to be Strong4Life. This program encourages students to be healthy through 4 habits: Eat Smarter, Drink Water; Screens Away, Go Play; Get Rest to be Your Best; Emotions are Real, Express How you Feel. The Strong4Life team has virtually visited Britt and shared brain breaks. Soon, students will get water bottles and notebooks to promote being healthy. More information about the four healthy habits can be found in the Strong4Life graphic, and you can ask your child to share what is being learned.

As always, thank you for your support of Britt Elementary.

Best regards,

Melissa Madsen

It’s time for the School Bus Safety Poster Contest and we need your artwork celebrating this year theme. Details about this contest can be found on Mrs. Hernandez’s E-class page. The theme this year is:
1 Bus + 1 Driver = a BIG Impact on Education

The deadline to get artwork to Mrs. Hernandez is Friday, January 14, 2022.

ROBOTS ALIVE

Britt's Lego Robotics team is off to an amazing start. The team has ten fourth-grade members and one alternate member. Ms. Falocco and Mr. McNeill coach the team which meets every Tuesday after school. So far, the team has established their norms for working together, begun learning about the season’s challenge of Cargo Connect, built three Lego Spike driving base robots, and begun building the Lego Mission models for our robot game challenges. We will be busy preparing for our competition in December!
