Good afternoon DCS!


I am excited to announce that beginning next week the classes will mix up for recess. We are teaching the 3Bs by grade level each day about recess expectations. Monday will begin with Grade 4 and then end with K on Friday.


RICAS (state assessment) will be happening this spring for all grade 3 and 4 students. Mark your calendars for the following dates:



Grade 4 Math: May 9 and 10

Grade 3 Math: May 12 and 13


For those who may volunteer or be asked to chaperone an event or field trip, please complete your BCI, https://www.westerly.k12.ri.us/domain/77.

Attendance UPDATE

The realistic goal is to have less than 5% chronically absent, but ultimately 0%. Chronically absent is defined as being out 10% of the days in school. This data impacts our STAR rating. Currently, we are at 10% chronically absent. Currently, we are ranked #19 of all RI schools with best attendance rating. Keep up the great work!


For those who are chronically absent, Attendance Officer John Riley may visit your home to inquire about attendance.

If you are interested in getting library cards, you simply need to stop by the library and fill out the application. Third Grade: In Math, Third Grade is working on 5 digit numbers and coins and currency. In Science, they are working on structures of life while studying their classroom crayfish. Finally, in ELA, they are studying water around the world with a focus on keeping water clean and conservation.
