Hawk Highlights
October 9, 2020
Dear Families of the Hollys,
Happy Fall! It’s hard to believe we have been in school for two months. Our students and staff are doing an amazing job of adjusting to our new normal. We are now in a routine and our school days are running smoothly and efficiently. I want to take this opportunity to thank you again for your patience and understanding as we tread through these unprecedented times. It is amazing to think that Fall Break is next week, October 12 – 16, 2020!
Ms. Drvenkar recently shared district safety updates with the Hollys community. Upon our return from Fall Break, we will thoughtfully begin exercising our safety procedures with students in coming weeks. Ensuring our students’ physical, social-emotional well-being is critical to best support our students.
Staying connected to our school community is vital to the Hollys, as your voice, needs, and interests are integral to our success. One way to get involved is to join us for our monthly virtual Hollys P.A.S.S. (Partnerships for Academically Successful Students) Meetings. Comprised of Hollys parents, teachers and administrators, and community members, Hollys P.A.S.S. supports the district's goal of Inclusive Excellence. It is a critical component of systemic equity transformation and serves the purpose of engaging community members in meaningful and effective partnerships that lead to positive outcomes for all students, but more specifically, students of color. P.A.S.S. is a structure that fosters the intentional building of relationships between the school and the parent communities in an effort to create an inclusive learning environment for all students. P.A.S.S. also gives parents and guardians of students of color voice and direct access to administration. Please join us at our next virtual P.A.S.S. Meeting on October 22, 2020 from 6pm – 7pm at the following link:
+1 720-443-6769 United States, Denver (Toll)
Conference ID: 512 065 491#
In the next few weeks, our first trimester will come to an end and Parent/Teacher Conferences will be upon us the week of November 2 – 6, 2020. Friday, November 6, 2020 is a Non-Contact Day. Students do not attend school due to Parent/Teacher Conferences. This year, all conferences will be virtual. Your child’s classroom teacher will be reaching out to confirm a virtual meeting time very soon.
At the Hollys, we would like to wish you a safe and very restful Fall Break! We thank you for your continued support!
Your partner in education,
Chris Toliver
Assistant Principal
Dear Cherry Creek Schools Community,
Food and Nutrition Services has some very exciting news! Thanks to extended funding from the USDA, we are able to offer FREE meals – breakfast and lunch – to ALL students through December 2020! Per USDA guidelines, qualifying meals must include 3 of the 5 meal components – Meat/Meat Alternate, Grain/Bread, Fruit, Vegetable, and Milk – one of which must be a fruit or vegetable. Additional meals (i.e. extra slice of pizza, or extra entrée) or a la carte (snack) items, are not covered by the USDA and therefore must be purchased at cost.
Although meals are free, we encourage families to still fill out a Free and Reduced Meal Application for the 2020-21 school year if they haven’t done so already. This ensures these benefits continue in January 2021 and enables CCSD to receive all possible school funding. The meal application can be found on family.titank12.com.
I also want to take this opportunity to remind you that should your student’s class be quarantined at any point during the school year, they can come by any Cherry Creek Middle School location on Monday between 7:15 – 8:30 am and 11 – 12:30 pm to pick up 5 full days of meals to eat while they learn at home. Definitely keep this in mind as a resource in the event of a quarantine.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns and we will be happy to assist.
We cannot thank you enough for supporting our amazing meal program!
Take good care,
Kim Kilgore RD, SNS

720-886-7173The Hollys Food Bag Program
Did you know that The Hollys have a weekly food bag program?! If you didn’t, now you do! Each week throughout the school year food bags are sent home filled with non-perishable food items to support our students and their families. These bags will be delivered to your child’s classroom and sent home with the students once a week. Our food bag program is open to all families at The Hollys, so if you would like your child to receive a food bag sent home each week, please reach out to our Mental Health Team. You can reach Andrea Spurlock at Holly Hills by emailing her at aspurlock@cherrycreekschools.org or calling 720-747-2511 or Alex Rodasti at Holly Ridge at arodasti@cherrycreekschools.org or 720-747-2439 if you would like to be added to the list.
