Patriotic Observance
The Mars Rover Landing launched in mid-2003. The six-wheeled robotic rover Opportunity landed on Mars this day in 2004 and—like its twin rover, Spirit, which had landed on January 3—analyzed rocks and soils and relayed pictures back to Earth. SOURCE.
New Announcements
VIDEO PRODUCTION CLASS IS OPEN FOR ENROLLMENT
Are you interested in video production and need a new elective class? Mr. Carter will be teaching video production this semester 3rd period. Students will be focused on creating the new Welcome to the Nest video, various social media posts and help with the AGHS Website and Yearbook. See the Counseling Office if you are interested in adding this class. Thursday is the deadline to enroll.
IT’S NATIONAL COMPLIMENT DAY:
Share a compliment to someone and make their day! There are premade post its with words of affirmation in the Math Hall and on the Softball Shed. Feel free to grab one (or two) and pass it along to someone. Also share a kind word to a staff member. Your words matter!
STUDENT BUSINESS OFFICE CLOSED
The Student Business Office will be closed 1/26-1/28/22. Students needing PE clothes can purchase online and show their receipt to their PE teacher.
HOMEWORK CENTER
The Homework Center will be open after school like normal on Tuesday, Wed and Thursday from 3-4pm this week.
COMMUNITY SERVICE:
There is a new volunteer opportunity with the Woman’s Club Community Center. Please visit our website, under the “One Time Events Tab.” to check out these amazing opportunities. Give back to your community and fulfill your graduation requirements.
Postponed - Winter Formal
In an effort to create amazing moments for our students, the decision to postpone Winter Formal was made last week. This will allow AGHS to find a venue to support an outdoor event where mask wearing will be optional for students. We will keep you informed when the new venue and date has been determine.
CLUB NOMINATIONS FOR WINTER SPIRIT WEEK
Please turn in your Winter Spirit Week nominations by the end of Monday, 1/31 to room #205. The court will be crowned at the basketball game on February 18th. See Mrs. Hurtado with questions.

CULTURE INTEGRATION CLUB: Would you like to meet foreign exchange students and new students and discuss multiple topics regarding AGHS culture, classes and whatever you would like? Please come join us every Monday in Mr. Callaghan’s room 406.

THE MONDAY CLUB FINE ARTS AWARDS:The Application Deadline for The Monday Club Fine Arts Awards Jazz and Classical Music competition has been extended to January 27, 2021.
The awards will be First Place $1,500; Second Place $1,000 and Third Place $500. Click on the link to apply or stop by the Career Center for more information.

BIG GAME THIS WEEK FOR BOYS SOCCER: AGHS had a huge win against SLO last week and now is in position to vye for first place in league. Come cheer on our boys this Wednesday, January 23rd at 6 pm
RESCHEDULED GAMES: AGHS & NHS will be switching home events in order to try to make up for our missed games. AG will be hosting Nipomo girls basketball next Wednesday, 1/26. AG & NHS will reschedule our game on 2/8 first thing next week.

PRESEASON CONDITIONING: Preseason conditioning has begun. If you're not involved with a winter sport, you should begin conditioning now. Conditioning is Monday through Friday starting at 3:10. YOU MUST BE REGISTERED with the Bigteams sports clearance website in order to participate. For instructions or questions stop by room 908.
TRACK AND FIELD:Track and Field is co-ed and offers a lot of opportunities to make new friends and hang out with old friends. Try it out, come out and share in the fun!
DIVING TEAM:The boys and girls Diving Teams are looking for some new divers this year. No experience necessary. Coach Inyoue will teach you all you need to know!! If you are a thrill seeking, gymnastics, surfing, skating background kinda person.......or not.......contact Coach Souder in the girls PE office.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Calling ALL Boys Volleyball Players: Come to meet your new head coach for a brief introductory meeting and schedule. We will begin preparing for the upcoming season immediately with open gym practices and tryouts starting ASAP, so make sure you are cleared for athletic participation. Meeting will be held on Wednesday, 1/26 @ 3:05pm in the home bleachers. Stop by and say hello before your other practice if you can.
The upcoming Eagle Athletic Foundation Hall of Fame Dinner scheduled for January 22, 2022 has been postponed until February 26, 2022 due to the current surge in COVID-19 cases. The EAF Board made the decision based on an abundance of caution for the community. The scheduled inductees are: Jesse Gillespie (Student Athlete), Laurel Runels-Maas (Student Athlete), Daniel Lintner (Student Athlete), Ernie Santa Cruz (Coach) and Dr. Sean Devine (Community Supporter). Submitting your community service hours
The Google Form for Community Service Hours is used for the graduation requirement of 20 hours. Any hours in addition to your graduation requirement should be submitted on the Give Back 250 Google Classroom with Mr. Hurtado.

REMINDERS: STAFF: Wear your ID when on campus. Also, Continue to be diligent about proper mask wearing in the classroom. Refer any issues to grade level admin.
TEACHER PARTICIPATION: As case managers and counselors are setting up meetings with students with Fs, it is absolutely vital and expected that all teachers participate in IEP, 504 and SST meetings. It is imperative that you provide your feedback and participation...a sub can be provided if needed, just let the case manager know. Please indicate on the calendar invite why you can’t make it if you decline.
