Technology

As a technology coach, I am often asked how I handled technology with my two children. They are adults now, but when they were younger I had rules. First of all, no devices in the bedrooms. I made sure I could easily see what they were on by having device areas in my kitchen and living areas. Secondly, devices were picked up well before bedtime. Thirdly, no apps or websites that included chat rooms were allowed. Finally, no devices were allowed at the dinner table. This was a time for conversations. At times I would hear, “Mom, that’s not fair! My friends this or my friends that.” This was the start of helping my children develop good screen time habits. Here is a great article from Common Sense Media on Good Screen Time Habits. Enjoy the article!

2023-2024 SSC Class Placement Information

Before long we will begin looking at class placements for next school year. Your child’s teacher, learning support teachers, counselor, and administrators all have input into class placement to make sure each child is in their most suitable learning environment.
I would like to offer parents the opportunity to let us know what environment you feel is most appropriate for your child. While it is not possible for you to choose your child’s teacher, we do want to make sure all of your concerns are addressed when making next year’s placement. If you should have special concerns you would like us to consider, please note them in the appropriate section provided on this form.
You might include a description of the amount of structure/flexibility needed for the learning environment in which you feel your child works best, or if you have had past experience with a teacher or another student that was either positive or negative. We work very hard to make the best possible class lists and consider all of the given information.
Once we begin making class lists, we will not be able to make changes. For this reason, this form must be completed NO LATER THAN April 1, 2021. This is a firm date and all requests must be completed on this form.

Be sure to complete your child's PowerSchool Registration as soon as possible, I am unable to place students on a class list prior to registration being completed.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Please use the following link to view the breakfast and lunch menu SSC Menu

Due to manufacturing supply shortages and food/supply distribution disruptions, the menu will be subject to change each day. The entree menu may also be limited to only (1) hot choice instead of (2) at times, but we will always offer a variety of vegetables and fruits and provide the USDA-required food components.

Parents may join their children for lunch after Labor Day. This will give us a few weeks to learn all of the lunch routines! Your classroom teacher will share their schedule at parent nights.

Set up an account to pay online through My School Bucks.

If families believe they are eligible for free or reduced-price meals, an application can be found and submitted at www.myschoolapps.com. In addition to qualifying for free or reduced-price meals during the school year, all families that receive approved benefits are eligible for a 2022 Summer P-EBT payment of $391.00 for each child.

Families must apply for free or reduced-price meals no later than August 31, 2022, to be awarded the distribution from the Alabama Department of Human Resources.
