Toys for Tots and Jingle Bell Grams!
Thank you to all who donated items for our toy drive for Toys for Tots.
The 3rd grade Jingle Bell Gram project was a success! With the help of our 3rd grade staff, and many Cyclone consumers, our students were able to donate $1,005.27 to Toys for Tots! It has been wonderful to watch this economics project unfold and touch so many lives!
Thanks to all who joined our 1st grade classes to build gingerbread houses!

Holiday Gifts to Staff Members
As the holiday season approaches, we know many students and parents may be thinking about giving teachers and/or staff members a gift. Please know that our staff members are very appreciative of any cards, gifts, or notes of cheer that may be given to them, but this is not necessary. Spending our days interacting and learning with your children is a valued gift to us all! If a gift is selected, please know that all staff members are required to follow the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators. In accordance with this code, educators may not accept gifts valuing more than $25.
Thank you for all that you do throughout the entire year to recognize our staff for their hard work and dedication and for all that you do to support your child’s learning!

HEALTH NOTES
KEEPING OUR SCHOOL HEALTHY
Cold and flu season is upon us and we want to remind parents of the following guidelines to prevent the spread of communicable diseases in our school and community.
Working parents should make plans in advance to handle illness emergencies so that children are able to stay home when ill or be picked up when ill at school.
Here are some rules of thumb to use when determining if it is appropriate for your child to be in school:
- If your child feels or acts ill during the evening or overnight, they should stay home until they are feeling and acting normally.
- If your child had a fever, he should not return to school until he has been fever-free for 24 hours without taking medication.
- A child should not return to school until he has been free of nausea and/or vomiting for 24 hours.
- If your child has a rash, please contact your healthcare provider before allowing your child to return to school. You may be asked to provide a note from the healthcare provider.
- If your child has a sore throat and has had a throat culture and is awaiting the results of the 24 hour test, please keep him home until you receive negative results. If the culture is positive, your child must be on antibiotics for 24 hours and fever free before returning to school.
- All children with diarrhea should stay home. If this is a chronic condition, please contact the school nurse.
- If your child has a persistent, frequent, or unusual cough, or if their cough is making it difficult for them to sleep, please keep them home and contact your healthcare provider for their advice.
- If your child has a new cold with a lot of nasal drainage, sneezing, and coughing, they should stay home in this very communicable period.
- If your child has drainage, tearing, redness in one or both of his eyes, he should stay home until you contact your healthcare provider for their advice. If they are diagnosed with pink eye/conjunctivitis, they should stay home until they have been on antibiotic drops for 24 hours.
- If your child has ear pain and is very uncomfortable, they should stay home and you should contact your healthcare provider for their advice.
- If your child complains of any other kind of pain or his behavior indicates that he has persistent pain, he should stay home and you should contact your healthcare provider for their advice.
- If your child has any contagious illness, such as chicken pox, and you are unsure of when he can return to school, please contact your healthcare provider or the School Nurse.
