The mission of Helen Keller Elementary School is to establish and maintain an educational community that empowers all students to become principled, independent inquirers who are socially responsible global citizens.

Meet the Teacher

Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! My name is Mrs. Jackson and I will be your child’s AST teacher here at Keller Elementary. This is the start of my eleventh year of teaching in a resource room setting, I am an alumni of Oakland University and was born and raised in this area. I’m extremely excited to get the opportunity to get to know you and work with your child during their time in the resource room. While your child is in the resource room we will be working on their individual goals that were established during your child’s IEP (individualized education plan) meeting, which will be revisited once a year. Please know that at anytime if you have any questions about what we are doing or have a question please feel free to call or email me. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you.

September in the AST

This month has been a month of getting to know one another again and talking about everyone's great summers. We started with our annual I can activity where the kids colored a flag and decorated the pillar in my room with things that they can do. We have also been working on getting our beginning of the year assessments done. Hopefully by next week they will all be completed and we can begin just concentrating on our academics.

SeeSaw Blog

A permission slip will be coming home today so we have permission for your child to post on our AST blog. Please make sure to sign it and return it to me. I have also attached it to the blog just in case it doesn't come home.

Please make sure to visit my Blog with more latest and greatest AST happenings.

Great Reading and Math resource

Moby Max is a great website to help your child work on their reading, math and vocabulary skills. Please click on the title above and it will take you right to the Moby Max website. I have set up an account for each student that is tailored to each of their individual needs and their IEP goals. Please have your child visit the website. More information will come hope next week with your child's username and password.
