A Note From Your Principals
Greetings Evergreen Families!
We hope the recent Thanksgiving holiday was restful and joyful. As much as we enjoy a break, we always look forward to seeing the smiling faces and feeling the good energy of your children when we return. Mrs. Goehring and I definitely took time to give thanks this year for our amazing students here at Evergreen. We often say to each other just how lucky we feel to work in such a special place.
Thank you all for a wonderful beginning to the school year. A routine has been set, despite the oddities that COVID continues to bring. We have been busy, haven’t we? We hosted a modified ice cream social and our Recess with Dads event. Goal setting conferences were important and well attended, if not virtually in some cases. PTO has had an amazing year so far. Thanks much to our new PTO Board! All of us are looking forward to what's still to come this year.
As we look forward to the holiday season, you might consider including a needy Evergreen family in your holiday giving. Check out the gift tags in our front foyer, if this is something you are interested in supporting. Our social worker, Ms. Tina, can answer any questions you may have about our Garland of Sharing program.
Happy Holidays!
Mr. Danford and Mrs. Goehring

Helping Children Learn Newsletter
Link to it here.
Inside it you will find lots of important information related to supporting our school kids—ideas for motivating our young ones, tips for attendance, ways to support our kiddos in the area of science, for example. So much to explore each month. Check it out.
The Garland of Sharing
Ms. Tina (Evergreen's Social Worker) is once again planning and organizing this year's Garland of Sharing.
It's easy to participate.
Drop by the school's foyer, grab an ornament (or two, or three), purchase the gifts listed on the ornament, wrap the gifts, and return the wrapped gifts no later that December 13, with the original ornament.
Don't forget to sign the sheet in the foyer near the Garland of Sharing when you grab an ornament. We want to account for the various requests.
Thank you very much for considering supporting our Mustang families.
Book Fair Details
Kids will have access to the book fair and shopping the entire week.
Parents will be able to shop in-person on Friday afternoon from 3:30-5:00. Vaccination cards must be presented to shop. And of course, masks will be required.
Music Notes from Mrs. Llyr
Greetings!
I’m so thrilled to be back in the music room this year and working with our Evergreen students. I wanted to share with everyone the Evergreen music website. It is a great resource for information and student self-directed learning activities. Here is the link.
Mustang Mallets will begin in January for 4th and 5th grade students. This is a before school extension and enrichment for playing xylophones/marimbas, students who want to dive deeper and increase their challenge.
I will have information available on January 3, 2022.
There will only be spots for 15 kids.
Start Date: January 20, 2022
When: Thursdays
Time: 8:10-8:55
Where: EV Music Room (next to the cafeteria)
The Colder, Wintry Weather Is Here!
Please be sure to send your child to school with appropriate clothing for the weather conditions, including a warm coat, boots, hat, and gloves.
Unless temperatures fall below that 15-degree mark, we will be outside for recess. We may have a modified recess schedule when temps are too chilly.
Morning lineup will be inside when temperatures fall below 25 degrees. Please remember, outside lineup begins at 9:00 AM. Children who do not eat breakfast should not arrive before 9:00. We do not want students standing in the cold any longer than necessary. In addition, we do not have supervision outside for our students until 9:00.
If you need assistance providing cold-weather clothing items for your child(ren), do not hesitate to call the office at 465-6400 and ask to speak with our social worker, Ms. Tina. She can direct you to available resources.
Lost and Found
The Living Classroom Is Ready For Winter
On some of our recent garden maintenance events, we have not had the turnout of helpers like we did this time. We surely appreciate the help. Without community support for the space, it cannot be properly kept.
If We Need a Late Start
2 Hour Late-Start Days
Mead School District has an option for responding to inclement weather—a 2-hour delayed start.
If it is determined that this is the safest option for the day, all Mead School District schools and buses will run two hours late.
Dismissal will be at the regular time unless otherwise announced. In addition to school starting two hours late, please note the following:
* NO Breakfast Program on late-start days.
* NO Before School District Programs (academic, music, athletic, extra-curricular, etc.).
* YES - YMCA before-school programs will open at 7 AM.
Free/Reduced Application Call from Nutrition Services
Dear Mead School District Families:
Due to the public health emergency, Mead School District offers meals each school day at no charge to all students.
In anticipation of a return to normal child nutrition program operations and the potential expansion of P-EBT into the 21-22 school year, we are encouraging families to complete and submit an application for free or reduced price meals. Families who qualify, also may have access to additional benefits beyond meals.
The Mead School District would appreciate having your applications returned either online or to your child's school. For those whose circumstances may change during the course of the year, the application will remain open.
Visitors and Volunteers
We're into December, and we have already had volunteers help at school. If you are interested, see the district webpage for registration information. We'd love to have you!
We would also love your help for Book Fair (December 6-10), but you'll have to be cleared to volunteer before helping out.
