WEEKLY LITURGICAL READINGS AND REFLECTIONS
26th Sunday in Ordinary Time
“For whoever is not against us is for us.”
Personal Meditation
How do we perceive media’s portrayal of family life? Is it realistic to what we know and believe through our Christian faith? How does the use of media such as cell phones, tablets, gaming systems, television, or the internet, affect our interactions with one another as a family?
Praying with you and for you as we focus on family and mission in Catholic education.
Blessings Everyone!
It has been a joyous week in our school of following and experiencing Pope Francis' visits and travels in the United States. Each day seemed to bring greater excitement, and pride in our Catholic faith as we watched and listened to Pope Francis delivering his messages of uniting in love and understanding and care of each other and our world, and of opening our eyes in compassion and mercy to the needs and suffering of the poor and suffering, and the great dignity of every single one of us. And we are hearing over and over his call to all to recognize, understand, and respond to the most sacred value, importance, dignity and responsibility of the family in our world. And, we truly saw how Francis is so humbly and lovingly the People's Pope, and how everyone in some way or another, aside from all of our differences, can connect with this holy and gracious man.
Teachers took advantage of accessing live TV coverage, and various news and internet coverage through our technology in the building. Their directed discussions among students, and discussions among staff, contributed to a rise in the sacred and energizing messages of Francis lifting us all. We will continue this great dialogue that is gathering momentum and strength throughout so many aspects of our school community.
I am sure you all have been having your own special experiences throughout this week, But i have one reflection on something that stood out to me. I'm sure you notice how one of Pope Franicis' repeated entreaties to everyone is to pray for him. Let us respond to that call with fervor, and continually hold our Holy Father in our prayers for the many graces he needs in this vital role of his leadership for us to keep us growing in a sense of new hope, comfort and courage as he touches all our hearts and souls
Peace, love and courage to all,
In Christ,
Mrs. Saladino

ST. GABRIEL FEAST DAY ALL SCHOOL CELEBRATION
Students enjoyed the day Friday with their annual celebration of our School and Parish feast day. Over the years, student council has created an assembly of quite a few presentations with skits and speakers, expressing values, behaviors and character traits that exemplify the high standards of St. Gabriel school students. The inauguration of all the additional homeroom representatives chosen from the beginning of the school year elections, is also a part of the assembly, reminding all again of the goals of all student council to be leaders in Christ promoting Christlike school spirit and good citizenship.
See the following link for the student council video.

ST. GABRIEL PARISH JUBILEE KICK OFF WEEKEND!
A highlight of the weekend was the presentation to Fr. Fred of a specially designed and and built memorial sign. It night only memorialized Fr. Fred with his name beautifully carved in the sign, but it honored his great and humble leadership of the parish and its people with the renaming of the complex of offices, meeting rooms, and various community spaces where parishioners gather, find nourishment and life, and bring life to others.

PTU Sunshine Committtee
The goal of the St. Gabriel PTU Sunshine Committee is to bring a little ray of sunshine, and perhaps a smile(!), to members of our school community that are not feeling very “sunny”. We also like to celebrate happy occasions too! We do this by sending home a card, small gift, or an act of service. Some examples are (but not limited to):
· Student injury / surgery
· Death of a loved one
· Death of an immediate family member
· Family is in crisis
· Prayers needed
· Birth of a sibling
· Staff: weddings / new babies
Currently, we are notified by the front office of anyone in need of services. If parents or students notify the office of an issue occurring within the family, we are then notified and items are delivered (through the school) within a week. Our biggest concern is that someone is missed! Maybe the family does not notify the office, but they share information with you. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
If you hear of anyone in need of our services, please contact the front office or feel free to directly e-mail us.
