The Japanese war planes were dropping bombs around every corner at pearl harbor. Like the rest of the unlucky ships, a bomb blew up this ship.

American soldiers tried to take out the planes by shooting them down with their ships. Didn't work.

They try to send troops to defend the naval base. These troops never got sent out.
The Reason It All Happened.
On December 7, 1941, the naval base in pearl harbor was attacked by Japanese fighter planes. The reason being because we were giving supplies to the allied powers. The Germans (Nazis) sent the Japanese planes to destroy our ways of shipment to the allies.
That is one of the reasons why WWII started.
The results
During The attack 2,300 american soldiers lost their lives to the Japanese planes. There is no telling how much money worth of land, ships, and people's family pay the government lost due to the attack.
Results of damage
The damage of the attack was extreme. The total body count being between 1,500, and , 2,300. That's a lot of death.
