Dear Winter Park Band families,
To update last week's Annual Door-2-Door Fundraiser to include online donations, we have raised a total of $20,754.52 for the Band Program. Once again thank you to everyone who contributed to making this year's D2D a success!
Wow, what performances by Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony at last week's FBA District 8 Concert MPA at Cypress Creek HS. All three groups of students truly represented our school with pride, and presented themselves both on and off stage in such a way that our Winter Park community should be proud. Thank you to our parent volunteers for giving of their time to help the ensembles through the MPA process - Concert Band: Laura Cambridge, Kris Cronin, and Amanda Olsen; Symphonic Band: Lia Carneiro Brown, Rebecca Flores, and Amy Sheppard; Wind Symphony: Ellen Deloach, Amanda Schaefer, and Emily Schlansky.
As a result of the three ensembles' preparation over the course of the school year thus far, all three groups received Superior ratings (the highest possible of the FBA rating system) from all three adjudicators on stage and Superior ratings from the Sight-Reading adjudicator. This is not a testament only to one day, but speaks to the musicality, effort, teachability, and dedication of the students in our program. It also speaks to the incredible and sustained support of our parents, feeder middle school music programs - especially their directors James Brannock, Dee McAfee, Eric Mendez, Bryan Munera, Brian Sullivan, and Damon Wille - students' extended families, and the Winter Park community at large. Congratulations to all on this wonderful recognition for our program!
On Monday, the Orchestra Winds and Percussion will perform with the Park Philharmonic at FOA District 8 Orchestra MPA. Have a great performance!

Hi everyone.
Congratulations to all of the bands on their fantastic performances this week at MPA. Thank you to all of the chaperones as well. We appreciate all of you. Good luck to the Orchestra Winds at the Orchestra MPA on Monday. If you’d like to watch, their performance is at 7:30 at WPHS auditorium.
Please keep an eye on calendar for Band Registration (May 3) and other spring activities. Have a relaxing spring break!
Uniform Room Help Needed
Mrs. Schaefer, Uniform Chair, is looking for students to help with Uniform room tasks to help wrap up this year. There will also be summer opportunities and Uniform Crew leadership positions next year to help things run smoothly. Winter Guard Corner
Hi everyone,
We had a great performance at Apopka HS yesterday! This Friday we will be rehearsing in the FC Gym from 10 AM - 3 PM. Then we have one more performance before Spring Break, on Saturday at University (ORL) HS. We would love to see everyone at our Family and Friends performance on Thursday, March 24 from 6:30 - 7:30 PM in the FC Gym!

Percussion Help Clinics are back! Come to have fun, meet incoming/current students, refine your percussion technique, and prepare for the Marching Percussion Placement Auditions coming up in May.

Pride of the Wildcats - Winter Park Band Fleet Vehicle Support and Improvement
We are very proud of our Operations side of the Winter Park Band. We have a dedicated group of parents that take the Winter Park Band & Color Guard to all their events. However, without the use of the large tractor trailer that transports our equipment to and from each marching band event and the small trailer for color guard the task would be next to impossible.
Through the years, the operations group has made many changes to the trailers to improve the functionality for the Winter Park Band. Historically, all of the monies have been raised through private contributions of a select groups of parents and through the Alumni Foundation. Because of this the need of a full fundraiser event to deflect the cost of the band operations was never really until now.
In effort to maintain our large trailer’s top-notch condition, we are planning to do some MAJOR repairs and improvements to the trailer that is now in its 15th year of service for WPHS band. Additionally, we need to either replace (preferable) the small trailer or make it road worthy again.
Some of the items on our list of improvements are costly, including:
- Repairing some minor damage to larger trailer
- Repainting the lower section of the large trailer
- Rewrapping the upper section of the large trailer
- Replace wheel bearings on front axle
- Moving the back stairway to the back of the trailer
- Replacing or repairing the small trailer
- And other improvements to keep our kids and volunteers safe.
Since we are re-wrapping the large trailer, we will be selling sponsor spots on the larger trailer to defray the cost. There are 10 spots that are available for $1,000 each and the entire front of the trailer for $5,000. These opportunities are a great way to support the Winter Park Band and they are also tax deductible.

We will be also seeking volunteers to help at a Trailer Work- Days throughout the month of January. We will be repairing minor body damage, painting the trailer and removing the old logos. Please contact Keith Gavin @ kgavin@sscands.com if you can assist.
