IECHS Parent Connect

Oct/Nov Edition

From the Principals Desk

Howdy Knight family...

I can't believe we are in November. Before you know it, the Class of 2022 will be walking two stages to pick up their degrees. I have many accolades and announcements to share below. As always, should you have any questions, feel free to email or call the school. I believe in open communication so that we can all navigate this journey together! #weareconnected

Have a great rest of the week,

Mrs. Beal

Big picture

Infinity's girls cross country brought home the district championship at the VARSITY and JV level. We are so proud of how our girls represented our school and district. The entire team qualified for REGIONALS. The season ended after REGIONALS but we have high hopes for this young team to surpass Regionals next year and make it to the STATE MEET.

Also, congratulations goes out to Junior Joel Gomez and Frehsman Orin Baker for qualifying for the boys regional cross country meet. We are super proud of all of our athletes.

Thank you coach Burgess and Groen for your endurance, support, and love.

Reminder about COLLEGE DROPS

We are approaching DROP day, Nov. 15th, and per our beginning of year student/parent meeting on July 28th, we discussed the policies behind "dropping" a college course. Students are required to follow a "Drop Check-list." It is also important to remind parents that after the 3rd DROP there will be a financial obligation on behalf of the student. [this does not happen often and it is to encourage effective skills to manage college, communication, and be an advocate for their education] Should you like a refresher on the policies, I have attached the IECHS HANDBOOK. Dress Code, Absences, & Tardies

Students have been doing much better with regards to dress code and tardies. We still would like to tighten up a bit more but we will take WINS when we get them. It is important that students attend class to receive credit. Students must be in a "seat" for 90% of the time or they are NOT awarded credit for the class. When your student is absent, please submit a doctors not e and/or a parental excuse note to the following website. Submitting documentation helps negate the absence. [up to 5 notes]

Additionally, final exam exemptions are affected by absences and tardies:

NCISD Semester/Final Exam Exemption Criteria

  1. Students are allowed to exempt 3 finals regardless of grade level if they meet the criteria.
  2. If the semester grade is 80 or higher the student is allowed 0-3 absences.
  3. If a student has 6 or more tardies in a class, that student will not be eligible to exempt that class. [Tardies will reset each semester.]
  4. If the semester grade is 79 or below the class is not eligible for exemption.
  5. Students may not exempt EOC tested subjects in the fall semester.
  6. AP courses can be exempt from the spring final exam with participation in the AP exam.
  7. Students who are exempt MUST attend the class they exempt in the first semester. For second semester the students do not have to attend class if they exempt a final.
