## Social Studies

This week we were learning about local government. We invited the mayor of Roanoke to join us for a Q and A session. The kids wrote questions and had the chance to ask him. Then we created posters to display what they had learned. Thanks Mayor Gierisch! We appreciate you!

## Math

We continued to explore numbers by categorizing even and odd numbers, and determining which numbers were greater than and less than. We also compared values and ordered them on the number line. Lastly, we learned about graphs through student surveys.

## Science

We have been exploring the 3 states of matter - solids, liquids and gases. We have been conducting experiments to show the mass of different materials. We learned that water has more mass than oil, and honey has more mass than water. We had a great time learning and observing our Science through experiments!

## Writers Workshop

We worked on providing feedback and revising/editing our writing. We completed our final copy of our personal narrative for the Standards Based Bulletin Board.

## Readers Workshop

This week we talked about reading strategies such as using background knowledge, making predictions and making connections. We modeled fluent reading to the students. They then took ipads and recorded themselves to listen to how they read. They self assessed their reading fluency.
