Updates!

Newsflash

New Academic Support Enrichment activities for January are now posted! Sign up on line here.

The Talent Show will take place on December 21st. If you have a talent to share in under 2 and a half minutes, let me know what you plan to do, what you need, and when we can meet for you to give me a preview! I'd like to get this organized by December 15th, in time for me to make the CD for the December 18th dress rehearsal.

What Do I Care About?

We went around the room and shared what we care about, in order to find a topic that matters to us for our Nonfiction Choice Project.

Here are some of the topics our 7th Grade Quest students care about.

Nonfiction Choice Projects

In December, our Quest adventure is a choice of a number of different creative nonfiction projects. So far, students have signed up to make video advertisements for a Minecraft Virtual City model of Ancient Rome, Medieval Europe and Alcatraz, to create arguments about Imagination and Knowledge's impact, and to design a nonfiction book about recommended women to be honored with statues in Central Park.

Students are collaborating with me to design their own rubrics.

TIME MANAGEMENT is crucial here. It may be difficult to prioritize, but seventh grade is an important time for developing this executive function skills. I am happy to help create timing plans if this is a struggle for anyone.

TED Talks

Some students asked me what Ted Talks are. Here are three that I am particularly fond of. However, if you take a look at the TED website, you will find talks on ALL sorts of topics.
John Green on Paper Towns and Why Learning is Awesome | TED Talks
Adora Svitak: What adults can learn from kids
Why Some of Us Don't Have One True Calling | Emilie Wapnick | TED Talks
