The wreck of the US.S. Indianapolis was a tragedy that took place in the year 1945 just a few weeks before the end of WW2. The ship was a navy vessel carrying components for the atomic bomb to potentially save lives instead of doing a major land invasion of Japan.
The ship was sailing a routine route where their was minimal risk of Japanese submarine activity. Then tragedy struck, a Japanese torpedoes struck the side of the ship. The ship continued moving despite being hit. Over 800 men got thrown into shark infested water. 300 men died aboard the ship. This newsletter shows how people who had a will to survive lived.
