Who was he?
Alan Turing was a British mathematician, wartime code-breaker and pioneer of computer science. He was born on the 23rd June 1912 and died 7th June 1954. Turing was born in Paddington, London, while his father was on leave from his position with the Indian Civil Service.
What did he do?
During world war two he worked for the government code and cypher school. In 1936, he went to Princeton University in America until he came back to England in 1938. In 1952, Turing was arrested and tried for homosexuality, which back then was a criminal offence.
