Also - a new App that you can download from the App Store is available for all parents. Click here to download the new GCS App! This App will bring all your school updates into one location and we highly encourage all our parents to download the App. Once you download the App please make sure that you select Oak Ridge as one of the schools that you "follow". Seclecting Oak Ridge as a school that you follow will ensure that you receive all of the specific Oak Ridge updates. This App brings items such as School Menus, PowerParent Gradebook, Peachjar Flyers, the new GCS Payment Center (how you will begin paying for fieldtrips in the near future), and the eBook Shelf all into one central location!

Thanks to our PTO - Have you Donated to Cash For Colts?

This past week our PTO put together an amazing Science Palooza event for our entire school! We had record turnout and all that attended had a great time. It is events such as this that bring our community together and make ORE such a wonderful school! Having said that, events such as this cost money :) and we need your continued support. Cash for Colts is the only fundraiser our PTO uses to raise the funds needed to support our school (you won't be asked to sell wrapping paper or magazines at ORE)! At this time the fundraiser is significantly below budget projections and we are asking that you please consider making a donation to Cash for Colts. Again - this is the only fundraiser our PTO conducts and without the parent donations we will be limited this year in the types of support our PTO can offer our school. We want to remind you that the ORE Derby that is held each spring is a School Fundraiser and not a PTO Fundraiser - both are critically necessary to off set the school's limited budget and we desperately need both fundraisers but one (the Cash for Colts) is specifically the PTO Fundraiser and the ORE Derby is specifically the School Fundraiser. Both directly support our students! Please send your Cash for Colts donation by check (made payable to ORES PTO) with your student to school and his/her teacher will make sure it gets turned into the PTO. Thank you for your continued support! All donations, no matter the amount, are greatly appreciated!

Interim Reports and 1st Quarter Parent/Teacher Conferences

Did you receive your child's 1st Quarter Interim Report? If not, please contact your child's teacher. Also - please remember that each classroom teacher is required to meet face to face with each family for 1st Quarter Parent/Teacher Conferences. If you have not signed up for your face to face conference please contact your child's teacher. Thank you for your continued support and taking time to meet face to face with your child's teacher this quarter. Each child in our school has now participated in the Beginning of Year Reading Assessment (DIBELS and TRC) and your child's teacher is able to share this Reading Assessment information with you at your 1st Quarter face to face conference.

School Picture Day

School Picture Day was this past Friday. When you receive your picture package if you are not satisfied with the picture you can return the entire package on Oct. 22nd for a Re-Take. Also if you were absent on Friday you can have a Make-Up picture made on Oct. 22nd. Please communicate both of these situations with your child's classroom teacher to make sure that your child makes it to the photographer for either a Re-Take or Make-Up picture on Oct. 22nd.
