Chatham Chats

This past week at Harbins, we celebrated many amazing things. I had the privilege of recognizing our August Leaders in Learning. I was inspired by our children who could explain to me so perfectly why they were leaders in learning. We also celebrated our initial fundraiser success by singing and dancing in the lunchroom. The students’ enthusiasm was catching, and I believe they had quite a bit of fun. If you have not established your child’s account for the PTA Read-a-Thon, please do so! This is a great way to encourage our students’ reading and support our PTA. At the end of the day on Friday, we cheered on our Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Connor, and our Support Person of the Year, Mrs. Latimore, with our parade throughout the school. What a wonderful tradition that allows the entire school to honor our special staff representatives!

I hope you have all enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing three day weekend.

It is GREAT to be a Harbins Tiger.

Safety Reminder

Please remember that all visitors to the school must enter through the front doors and sign in. Each visitor should wear the yellow name tag at all times while on school grounds.

Teachers and staff are engaged with children from 7:45 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. Please help us preserve that time. We ask that if you need to speak with a staff member, you set up a time with that person. This way, we can ensure we are devoting our attention to the children in the building and making sure we meet your needs.

Early Release Days in September

Gwinnett County's Early Release Days are scheduled for September 23rd and 24th. Please mark your calendar that the students will be released on these two days at 12:15 pm. You will need to make sure someone is home to receive the children as they get off the bus.

Pack 529 Cub Scout Round-up

September 10, 2015 at 7:00 pm

What is Cub Scouts and who is Pack 529?

Pack 529, chartered by Harbins Elementary PTA, has dedicated leaders and volunteers who are tasked with teaching Cub Scouts both fun and valuable lessons that will help them progress in the Cub Scout Program and in life. What makes Cub Scouts truly unique is the opportunity it gives the entire family to be involved in each child’s scouting adventure. From volunteering with the pack to leading activities at home, parents can take full advantage of the time they’ll have participating in their Cub Scout's life. Cub Scouting is the foundation of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). While it is designed for boys in the first through fifth grades, this program really involves the whole family. Whether it is camping, hiking, or racing a pinewood derby car there is always a unique adventure happening for you.
