Great Things are Happening at CASC!
A Message From Our Head of School
I wanted to write and make you aware of some upcoming changes that we will be making to Class Connect Sessions, Virtual Learning Labs, and face to Face Learning Labs. All changes will be effective November 2nd.
In order to have everything up and running, we will not hold any physical Learning Labs, including the Heron Academy, the week of October 26-30.
In order to better structure the Learning Labs, all sessions (Both in person and Virtual) will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-12. We have looked at feedback from families, students, and staff and believe that a 3 hour session was beginning to be cumbersome than helpful. During this time, our teachers will work with students on narrowing skill gaps based on data collected from iREADY and Study Island. The main focus of the sessions will be in the areas of ELA and Mathematics.
Our Virtual Learning Labs (online help) will run at the same time (10-12 Tue/Thur). This will help ensure that content experts are online and ready to help both the students attending physical labs, while also being available for students not attending the physical Labs.
For class connect sessions, we are ensuring that no sessions be scheduled at the same time as the Virtual and Physical Learning Labs. This not only ensures that there is no scheduling conflict for students that want to benefit from the Learning Labs, but will allow for more teachers to be available for Virtual help. All teachers not physically present in a Learning Lab will be online and available to help students. The Virtual Learning Lab sessions will appear as an optional Class Connect Session on all students schedule.
Since the change to Learning Labs will affect the schedule of families already signed up for the program, we will first give them the opportunity to keep their “seat” at the new time, and will then publish the link for more families to sign up.
As a reminder, the Physical Learning Lab program requires a commitment to attend weekly. This is to ensure that students in the program benefit as much as possible from frequent face to face instruction.

The Michelin Children's Concert is a one-hour long kid friendly version of a GSO Masterworks concert. It's currently the only opportunity for young children to see the full GSO in an education setting. We use narration and multimedia to take the kids on a tour of the symphony orchestra, and then finish things up with kid friendly selections from our upcoming Masterworks Concert.
For more information on the Greenville Symphony Orchestra please visit their website.
This production will take place at the Peace Center in Greenville located at 300 S. Main St. Greenville, SC 29601.
