Hello, Castle View Families:
Before I share a shift in our CV administrative team, I need to express my gratitude and admiration for Derek Cordes, CV's current athletic director. Derek has decided to return to the classroom next year after leading an incredible athletic department, which has been consistently competitive in, for my money, the toughest league in the state. I have been lucky to learn from his extraordinary institutional knowledge, and we have all benefitted from his deep passion for our community.
I am pleased to announce that Scott Dowis, currently an assistant principal at Castle View, has been named our new Athletic Director. Scott brings a wealth of experience in athletics, having excelled as a two-sport scholarship athlete in volleyball and soccer at Graceland University. While at Graceland, Scott earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration. He also holds a master’s degree in education from Avila University and his administrator’s license from Regis University.
Scott has an impressive coaching background, having coached volleyball at the college, club and high school levels. He was a head coach and director of coaching development with the MAVS volleyball club in Kansas City. During his tenure, his teams won a national championship as well as finished 2nd and 3rd at the national tournament. He also coached our very own Castle View Sapercats to the CHSAA state volleyball championship in 2017.
Please join me in welcoming Scott to this important role. We look forward to the positive impact he will have on our athletics programs and the entire campus community.
As always, thank you for sharing your kids with us; it is our honor to serve them.
