First Day of Student Attendance
Return Plans Update
In effort to make class sizes smaller, we have assigned a Specials (Art, Tech, Music) teacher and a PE/Health teacher to each grade level. The staffing in this manner reduced class sizes to under 20. Now, we are reviewing the requests for remote and in person. Here are the estimated class sizes that result:
6th Grade average class size of 18, with 27 electing remote = 15 total in person class size
7th Grade average class size of 18, with 45 electing remote = 13 total in person class size
8th Grade average class size of 19, with 44 electing remote = 14 total in person class size
We are arranging the rosters of students per class based on this information. Behind the scenes, we have to build a schedule in Powerschool with periods, length of periods, teacher assigned, room numbers, quarter long classes, year long classes, etc. This is a lengthy process that is normally complete by now and being spot checked.
Please understand that student schedules will not be available until closer to school starting.
Here are our next steps:
- Build our new schedule in Powerschool.
- Input the schedule and rosters into Powerschool to produce individual student schedules
- Send survey sign up for Band and Choir (remote) and Spanish for 8th grade
- Update Supply Lists
- Determine bus routes
- Communicate with families on student schedules and bus routes
Face Masks
There are many companies that are selling masks, but which one is right for you? It really is like choosing a pair of shoes. You want them to be comfortable and still serve the purpose. The CDC recommends face make following these guidelines:
- Face masks should fit snugly and comfortably
- They must be secured with ties or ear loops
- They should comprise multiple fabric layers
- You should be able to breathe without restriction while wearing the face mask
- You should be able to wash the face masks without causing damage or losing the face mask’s shape
We do suggest families start looking for options for their child and to have them get use to wearing it for longer periods of time. Try wearing the mask around the house in relaxed environments: watching TV, playing a family game, etc.
