Edmond Doyle News

Everyone is getting back into the swing of things!! Homework is getting done and signed, good behavior is being seen, and lots of learning is taking place!! If you have time, come and see our monarch pupas and watch the monarchs fly around the butterfly garden!! It really is fun to watch!

Thanks for making sure your child is doing their homework. Have your child read 20 minutes every night and practice their math facts. What you do with them makes a huge difference!!

We will begin checking out books next week...now your child can start taking AR tests for points. AR stands for Accelerated Reader. It uses the STAR assessment benchmarks we have been taking to decide at what Lexile your child reads. Lexiles tell us how many words your child reads with understanding. Your child will pick a book on their Lexile so they can read with success. They must pass the test on the book with 80% accuracy. Every nine weeks we have a celebration for everyone that has met their goals. For more information on how the program works go to https://www.renaissance.com/services/parent-resources/reading-literacy/ PLEASE make reading at your house a priority--good readers make good students!!

Please do not get ahead of the carline in the mornings or afternoons. If you wait your turn, the line goes smoothly. If you want to come inside-then go to the front of the line close to the stop sign. We just don't want anyone to get into a wreck. Our carlines actually move very quickly.

Our school district has created a CAT Team or Chronic Absenteeism Team that will help families struggling to get their child to school for many reasons. The team will begin making home visits once a child has 5 absences. Students who miss more than 9 days in a semester are at risk of getting a ticket for truancy. Our school will get a negative score on our State Report Card for every child that misses 18 days in one year. We want to be the best so please make appointments outside of school hours and make sure your child is in school unless they are truly sick!

Have a great weekend!!
