5th Grade Assists High School With Coding

MHS students participated in an "Hour of Code" event on January 10th. 5th grade students from Mrs. Taylor's class worked with the 10th graders and answered their coding questions.

What is coding? Coding is the computer language used to create apps, software and websites. Without code, we wouldn't have access to all of the technology resources we rely on such as mobile phone apps, Facebook, our web browsers, etc. All of these run on code. Computer science helps nurture the skills of problem-solving, creativity and logic. Allowing students to work on these skills at an early age gives them the foundation for success in any 21st-century career path.

A special thank you to Waco Tribune-Herald and our guest readers!

Christmas Sing-Along

McGregor Primary and Elementary students enjoyed participating in the annual Christmas Sing-Along coordinated by MISD Fine Arts Instructor Shelley White. The students enjoyed special performances by teachers and students as well as singing and dancing to some Christmas favorites.

Do a Good Deed

The sixth, seventh and eighth grade art classes created Christmas cards in Rhett Hering's honor. The students sent 100 cards to surrounding veterans, police officers, firefighters, paramedics, nurses, patients, doctors, postal carriers and sanitation workers. To complete their project, they prepared photos and a letter to share with Rhett's family.

The Missing List

The H.G. Isbill Junior High Bulldog Players Drama Club performed The Missing List on December 13th and 14th, 2016. The play involved some mischevious elves who steal the naughty and nice list to prove that children are greedy. After some toys come to life and teach the elves a valuable lesson about compassion, the list is returned and Christmas can resume as normal. Throughout the spring, the Bulldog Players will meet once per month to practice improvisation, puppetry and skit writing. The Bulldog Players Drama Club is open to all students in sixth, seventh and eighth grade.

A job well done to the Bulldog Players!
