Title I
We are excited to inform you that GW is now a Title I school. This federal program allows for extra resources to be available to support our scholars academic achievement. Your scholar
will receive a flier outlining the responsibilities of the school, family, and scholar as it relates to Title I.
The goal of our Title I program is to improve teaching and learning, improve high school graduation rates, provide interventions for attendance, behavior, and increase family engagement in school processes. We are asking for your support in these efforts by attending our parent/family engagement meetings. These meetings will take place in the GW Auditorium. Parents, please join our Parent Family Advisory Council - PFAC

School Safety
Fire Drill - At the sound of the alarm, scholars line up in an orderly fashion and follow the evacuation route posted in the room.
Lock Down Drill (threat inside the building) - At the announcement of a lock down, scholars will move away from doors and windows. Students in the hallway will enter the closest room. Teachers will lock doors, turn off lights, and cover windows. All instruction stops and everyone in the room must remain quite.
Lock Out/Modified or Soft Lock Down Drill (threat outside the building) - At the announcement of a lock out, scholars will return to their class. Students should not move through the hallway, but instruction may continue in the classroom.
Tornado Drill - Are executed on a nation-wide date. Teachers will be informed via the intercom that we are under a tornado warning. Teachers will accompany their students to the assigned area (exit off of 2nd floor) and instruct them to sit facing the wall with their head between their knees. If they have a coat they should pull it over their heads. Teachers should check their roll to determine that all students are present in the assigned area. An announcement will be made to return to class when the danger has passed.
Parents and guardians, please have conversations with your scholar about the importance of following all faculty/staff directions during safety drills.
