Ocean Currents
In South Asia
How do they Occur?
Ocean currents can be generated by wind, density differences in water masses caused by temperature and salinity variations, gravity, and events such as earthquakes. Currents are cohesive streams of seawater that circulate through the ocean.
Positive effects
Sea captains use the currents for their trading
The currents cause rain for most areas
Warm to cool temperatures happen along the coast line
Negative Effects
-Such winds are bereft of any moisture and bring little or no rainfall over the coastal regions where they blow. As most cold currents flow along the western coast of continents, some of the major deserts are found in such regions. The Atacama desert in South America is influenced by the cold Peru current.
