EARTH WEEK
Dear Parents,
This week we have discussed our focus question: “How can we take care of our planet?” in order to make honor of our planet, whose birthday will be celebrated on April 22nd and which is world known as “Earth Day”, children practiced the letter R and learned what the three R’s of Earth Day mean: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to decrease pollution and save our planet.
We also reviewed about Good Choices vs. Bad Choices to keep the environment safe and clean and kids came up with many interesting good and bad choices for the benefit of the environment. We talked about the consequences of good and bad choices, a good choice has good consequences, they help you or someone else and they also make a situation better, whereas, bad choices make something worse and a current situation deteriorate.
On Friday, we explained to children that a pledge “is a promise or commitment we make and keep”, so we asked the children to help to make a list of ideas of how we could help the planet in our homes and school. We talked about the “Good” paper (good on one side) and how we can use it, the plastic and paper cups and how to avoid using them, and natural light and how we can use it to save energy. Lastly, we came up with ideas about how PK could do in our school to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Have a lovely weekend,
PK3 Team

FUNDACION COSTA RECICLA
Thank you all for your generosity in providing a donation to the foundation. They gave us a workshop on recycling where children had the opportunity to learn a lot about recycling and its importance. They played a game of classifying recycling material such as: plastic, tetra-pack and paper.
