Faculty vs. Students Book Battle

1st Student Book Club Meeting Wed. Sept. 17th @ 3:00

CHS Students:

Students, this is your opportunity to defeat the faculty again. Follow your win over the faculty in the basketball game with a win over them in the first ever Faculty vs. Students Virginia Readers' Choice Book Battle. CHS students had a great time reading the selections from last year's Virginia Readers' Choice, and they decided to step-it-up this year by challenging the faculty to a book battle. All students can join the book club. Come to our first meeting on Wednesday, September 17th @ 3:00 in the library.

Please participate and make this an epic event!

The faculty has already started reading the new selections for 2019-2020, and they are talking trash in anticipation of winning the Book Battle in March 2020. Let's rise to this challenge, read some amazing books, and win the Faculty vs. Students Virginia Readers' Choice Book Battle! Please mark the date - Tuesday March 24th, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - on your calendar and start reading :-) The first student book club meeting will be Tuesday, September 17th @ 3:00 in the library. See you there!

PURPOSE OF VIRGINIA READERS' CHOICE PROGRAM

To encourage young readers to become better acquainted with contemporary books with outstanding literary appeal, to broaden students’ awareness of literature as a life-long pleasure, to encourage reading aloud in classrooms as a means of introducing reading for pleasure, and to honor favorite books and their authors.

Sponsored by THE VIRGINIA STATE READING ASSOCIATION in association with THE VIRGINIA ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL LIBRARIANS, THE VIRGINIA LIBRARY ASSOCIATION& THE LIBRARY OF VIRGINIA YOUTH SERVICES.

Start reading!

The ten titles chosen as the 2019-2020 book selections for Virginia Readers' Choice are listed below. We now have ALL of the titles available in our library (and two are also available online for free - see Mrs. Kelly or Mrs. Kline for codes)! You do not need to read all 10 in order to participate in the Virginia Readers' choice program (only 4 of the 10 need to be read in order to vote in April 2020); however, it would be best to assign titles to team members in order to insure that all titles have been read by someone on the team (or just read them ALL :-)
