Third Grade Learning Connections
SEM, Issue 1 March 23, 2020
Welcome!
Hello third graders! All your teachers miss seeing your faces and learning together in our classrooms at SEM. We really look forward to the day when we are together again! While we are home, we wanted to share a digital newsletter with you each week. This will help you find resources as you continue your work as a learner at home. Each Monday, look for this newsletter and use it to help you with your assignments during the week. Please reach out to your teacher if you have questions. We are here for you and are happy to help you. Below please find the link to this week's Flipgrid. We would love for you to leave a video message to let us know how you are and what you've been enjoying since you've been home.
Mathematicians at Work!
This week, we will be learning about fractions on a number line. You will use your New York Ready book and work on pages 162-167. We also really want to see you working on your fact fluency! Please work on the packet that was sent home that will help you review your math facts. Dreambox is a very useful site that will help you work on the math skills most appropriate for you! Remember to access Dreambox from Class Link Launchpad. Click on the I-Ready video below to help you with pages 162-167.

Unstoppable Readers!
This week, we will continue our study of nonfiction in the New York Ready book. We will focus on finding the main idea and key details in pages 24-37. Of course, we hope you are keeping up with the chapter books you brought home and are enjoying those stories. Remember, Raz-Kids is a great resource to use and you can access it from Class Link Launchpad. (Click on the i-Ready videos below for help with the concepts being taught on pages 24-37.)

Personal Narratives
Personal narratives are stories about you and your life! Life is very different right now for so many of us but there are so many stories we can tell about what we are doing each day, what we look forward to, what we remember. This week, try to write the stories of your life right now. You can use the computer (Blog, Google Docs, Google Slides, Buncee) or a notebook or even paper stapled together. Your teachers would love to see your writing! If you write on Google Docs or Google Slides, be sure to share your writing with your teacher by hitting the blue share button in the right hand corner. We want to read your stories! Below are some ideas on ways you can write your personal narrative.
