New! EVHS College Planning Night For Junior Parents - Thursday, March 9th, 6:30-8 PM
The Eastview High School College Planning Night will take place on Thursday, March 9th at 6:30 PM in the Student Commons area.
This seminar is very timely for families of juniors. This informational seminar outlines the process for planning and preparing for a post-high school education.
Topics include: EVHS graduation requirements, college visits, choosing a college, college requirements, ACT and SAT testing, and the necessary timelines in the application process. The powerful tools of NAVIANCE, a web-based college and career program, will also be shared.
EVHS Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) Information- Required meeting for those interested!
Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) is a program that allows highly motivated 11th- and 12th-grade students to earn college credit while still in high school, through enrollment in and successful completion of college-level courses. With traditional PSEO, these courses are generally offered on the campus of the postsecondary institution; some courses are offered online. The cost of tuition, course fees, and textbooks is covered by the Minnesota Department of Education.

Students should still register for a full year of EVHS classes for the 2023-2024 school year even if they plan on taking PSEO classes. The MN State Department of Education deadline for notifying EHS about your intention to participate in PSEO is May 30th.
PSEO at University of MN- Twin Cities
The PSEO Office at the University of MN- Twin Cities is hosting two information sessions the next few weeks for prospective students:
VIRTUAL: Wednesday, February 22nd 5:30-6:30 pm Register
VIRTUAL Tuesday, March 28th 5:30-6:30 pm Register
Students will learn about the PSEO program, application and enrollment deadlines for the 2023-2024 academic year, and tips to help them succeed as they begin their post-secondary journey. Students should register for either event in advance. U of MN PSEO Application deadline is April 17th.
Save the Date! In-School Pre-ACT and ACT - April 4th
On Tuesday, April 4th all 10th and 11th grade students will have the opportunity to take the Pre-ACT (10th) and ACT (11th) test at Eastview High School. Students in 10th and 11th grade will report to school at their regularly scheduled time. Students in grades 9 and 12 will access instruction asynchronously.
*No sign-up will be required. Look for more information to follow in March.
Cancelled: College Fair at Apple Valley High School - Wednesday, February 22nd
Students and families are welcome to attend a free Minnesota Education Fair Sponsored by MACAC, Minnesota Association for College Admission Counseling, on Wednesday, February 22nd from 4:30-6 PM at Apple Valley High School.
Visit with representatives from 100 colleges, universities, community colleges, technical colleges, and specialty schools. For a complete list of schools at each fair, visit www.mn-acac.org.

The event will take place at the Arden Hills Army Training Site located at 4761 Hamline Avenue S. Arden Hills, MN 55412. Check-in for students will be at 4:30pm.

University of Minnesota - Share My App Program
The U of M Share My App Program allows applicants to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus to share their application with all University of Minnesota campuses with no additional application or fee. This program was initiated to showcase the opportunities available system-wide and encourage applications to other campuses: Crookston, Duluth, Morris, and Rochester.
Within one week of completing their applications to the Twin Cities campus, students will see an optional Share My App checklist item in their Application Tracker where they can fill out a short form to request us to share their application.
Students should keep the other campus application deadlines in mind to ensure they are applying on time and taking the appropriate steps to apply directly if they are making 'Share My App' requests too close to the deadlines.

Scott Highlands scholarship applications are now available to graduating seniors who were SHMS attendees.
All scholarships should be submitted on or before Monday, April 3rd 2023. Students are encouraged to apply for more than one scholarship if eligible.

In 2022, the Society of Women Engineers awarded more than 330 new and renewed scholarships valued at more than $1,700,000. SWE Scholarships support those who identify as a woman and are pursuing an ABET-accredited associate, bachelor, or graduate degree in engineering, engineering technology, and computer science both in the United States and internationally.
ABET Program Freshmen: Applications for the 2023-2024 academic year are open February 1, 2023 and close on March 20, 2023. Reference letters due by March 27, 2023.

New! Juniors: Horatio Alger State Scholarship
Juniors - This is a fabulous scholarship opportunity for you!
To be eligible to apply for a Horatio Alger State Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria*:
- Be enrolled full time as a high school junior in the United States
- Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)
- Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)
- Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
- Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity
- Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and
- Be a United States citizen
Deadline: Wednesday, March 15th, 2023!
Eagan Community Foundation Scholarship Application Now Open
The Eagan Community Foundation scholarship application process IS NOW OPEN and will close the evening of February 24th at 11:59 PM. They will be awarding roughly 110 scholarships totaling over $120,000.
Every student is encouraged to submit an application! Awards are based on a variety of criteria including community involvement, those with military parents, those who have persevered through hardships in life, participation in sports and school activities, academic merit and financial need. Only scholarships that are based on financial need require a copy of the front page of your Student Aid Report (SAR) from the FAFSA. Be sure and file your FAFSA by the scholarship deadline.

Ready, Set, FAFSA Series, February 2023
This February, the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, Minnesota Department of Education, ECMC's The College Place Minnesota, and Minnesota Goes to College are launching a series of financial aid webinars for Minnesota students and families as they prepare for the college-going process. All sessions will have simultaneous interpretation in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong. Attendees will be entered to win a $500 scholarship.
The series, which runs February 7 through 28, will focus on a variety of topics, including general financial aid information, details on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Minnesota Dream Act for undocumented students, and other ways to pay for college.

MN Tuition-Free Pathways for Students in High-Need Career Areas
Minnesota Future Together Grants will provide eligible Minnesotans with a tuition-free pathway for earning a certificate, diploma, associate’s degree, or bachelor’s degree at any public institution in the state. The grants are available starting spring 2022 through 2024.
If you are currently studying healthcare, STEM, business, industry and technology, education, or public service at a public institution, reach out to your college's financial aid office. And if you're a prospective student looking to go into one of these fields, chat with an admissions representative about the opportunity.
Enrichment Opportunities
New! NRECA Youth Tour – Washington, D.C.
Each year Dakota Electric sends five local high school sophomore, junior or seniors on an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s (NRECA) Youth Tour. The next youth tour Minnesota will participate in will be June 13-18, 2023.
Application deadline is Feb. 23, 2023. Students must be available for an in-person interview on March 13 or March 15 after 3:30 p.m.

Lumiere Research Scholar Program: Create an Independent Research Paper. Work with Top Researchers.
The Lumiere Research Scholar Program helps students work one-on-one with a world-class scholar on an independent research project. At the end of the 12-week program, you'll develop an independent research paper that you could use for university admissions or future studies.
The program was founded by a Harvard & Oxford PhD who met as undergraduates at Harvard.

If your student needs supplies, please send them to the Counseling Office. We have supplies including notebooks, pens, pencils, padlocks for gym lockers, pocket folders, graphing paper, index notecards and more. We also have new backpacks!

Mom’s and Neighbors community organization has cold weather clothing available.
Please contact your student’s counselor if you have a need for winter coats, hats, gloves.

Park Nicollet's Growing Through Grief Support Group
Park Nicollet’s Growing Through Grief counselor, Jenny Simmonds, will be offering a weekly grief group for Eastview students who have experienced the death of a significant family member (parent, sibling, caregiver, etc.). If your teen is living with loss and you think they could benefit from participating in a grief group, please contact Molly Wellik at molly.wellik@district196.org and we will connect with your student regarding their interest.
