Tardies and Early Dismissals for Students

Our doors open for students at 8:50 AM, and instruction begins at 9:20 AM daily. Dismissal begins at 2:45 PM. Due to the already shortened school day, and many days of lost instructional time, please try and avoid late drop-offs and early dismissals for your child as much as possible. We certainly understand that appointments are a priority, and many have been made months in advance. However, we want our students to be exposed to as much consistency as possible at this point, and tardies and early dismissals can certainly disrupt that process during an already difficult school year.

Additionally, adults are not permitted entry into our school at this point due to COVID restrictions. Please call the main office at (304) 229-1970 if you are dropping off late or picking up early. Thank you for your cooperation!

Spring Break

We have made it through approximately 7 weeks of consistent in-person learning! It has been wonderful having our brick students back full-time, and we are seeing a ton of academic progress. In order to allow continued operations, it is important that our staff and our families continue to exercise caution and follow safety protocols to keep our Valley View community safe. Although BCS will not go to remote learning as a whole, we still have the option to close down individual classrooms, or the entire school, if there is a COVID outbreak.

We know that many families are planning to travel over the break. We encourage you to use caution, and stay safe. Upon returning from a trip, if anyone in your household becomes symptomatic - please keep your child home. Our school nurse will be happy to assist you in determining when it is safe for your child to return to school.

We appreciate your attention to safety so that we can finish the school year strong!

Health & Wellness

  • If your child will not be in school, you must call the Main Office to report the absence (304-229-1970).

  • If your child is experiencing COVID like symptoms, please report those to Administration or the School Nurse (even on remote days).

  • If someone in your house tests positive for COVID, please report that to Administration or the School Nurse (even on remote days).

  • If you are waiting for COVID testing results, please report that to Administration or the School Nurse (even on remote days).

Thank you for keeping our community safe!

Automatic Attendance Calls

Berkeley County Schools has resumed automated attendance calling for absent students. If your child is marked absent, you will receive a phone call starting at 11:00 AM.

Attendance Requirements: Remote Days

On remote learning days, student engagement is still required. Our teachers will post pre-recorded videos and/or assignments that are due by 11:59 PM that day. If students do not watch the videos, or turn in the required assignments, they will be marked ABSENT on the designated remote learning days.

We appreciate the familial support and cooperation to keep our students engaged during instructional days from home.
