Please send your photos of flowers to Kari Kopnick and join us on Sunday to see the garden we create together! Kari's email is communitylife@ouuc.org.

Thank you to everyone who submitted comments or attended Saturday’s Zoom meeting about the proposed Disruptive Behavior Policy. We received many helpful comments and suggestions about the draft; please know that all of them will be considered carefully and will have an impact on the final draft of this policy. As mentioned, this policy will be part of a larger body of work to enhance a healthy congregational culture. Read more....

Our building is closed but our hearts are open. Join us online for Sunday worship at 10 am; info at OUUC.org
That’s the reality of things for now and will be for a while. Although Thurston County has moved to Phase 2 of the Governor's Safe Start Washington Plan , the recommendation is that congregations continue to meet virtually if possible. And, so we will continue to gather for worship virtually for the time being. Read more....

Covenant Circles
Small Group gatherings for reflection and connection are ongoing, even as we are still physically distancing. Covenant Circles meet monthly to discuss and reflect upon the theme of the month. June's theme is Compassion, July is Courage, and August is Journey. Would you like to join a summer-quarter Covenant Circle to reflect on these themes?

Community Pantry Contributions
United Way of Thurston County and the Community Foundation are responding to the decline in contributions of food and other items to nonprofit organizations such as TOGETHER!, Family Support Center and the Nurse Family Partnership, and others by sponsoring community collections. OUUC’s Faith in Action Ministry offers two dates for you to contribute in the OUUC parking lot, where boxes will be provided for a no-contact drop-off: Saturday, June 13, 10:00 am to noon, and Tuesday, June 16, 4:00 – 6:00 pm. A list of needed items is available below. If you have a contribution but cannot bring them to OUUC on the collection dates, please don’t leave them at the church; contact Rev. McKinley for pick up.
Reconstruction in America Series Begins Today
REGISTER NOW; The four-Wednesday series begins June 10; it is free, registration is required.
The Eco Film Festival is Here
Last week the Environmental Action Team announced its Eco Film Festival. Today we have a movie suggestion for you - Just Eat It released in 2014. It deals with food waste, something we are faced with now in our community. The movie is available from a variety of sources. On YouTube, it is free with ads that you can block after 5 seconds. If you prefer, rent it.
Google Just Eat It and Select your watch platform. Enjoy the show in the comfort of your home! Next week we will provide supplemental resources and details of a ZOOM discussion on the topic of food waste.
Help Feed Homeless Children and Teens in our Community
Since it’s beginning on the third and fourth Wednesday of each month generous OUUC volunteers have provided main and side dishes for the evening meal at the Interfaith Works Shelter While that opportunity will continue, starting this month there will also be the opportunity to assist the local Center for Children and Teens to provide weekend food for many of the several hundred homeless children and teens in our community. Because the Center does not have adequate refrigeration, only non-perishable shelf-stable foods can be accepted—some examples of shelf-stable foods are packages of instant oatmeal, shelf-stable milk, Cup of Soups, bread, rice crackers, pudding cups, fruit cups, dry cereals, small, individual servings of table ready food (with pull tabs)—example: spaghetti, small boxes of raisins or other dried fruits, individual servings of juices, sealed string cheese, etc. Homemade cupcakes and cookies may also be accepted. For those please include a list of ingredients used. On Wednesday, June 17, and Wednesday, June 24, between 5:15 and 5:45 pm, all donations should be brought to the parking lot of the Olympia Copy Center (located across the street from the First Christian Church). To donate, or for more information please contact Jo Ann Young.
OUUC Landscaping has Some Rough Patches!
Although most of us aren't at church much, the weeds keep growing. A number of our members have taken responsibility for weeding different patches through the Adopt-a-Plot program. Several plots need some TLC. Could you commit to weeding once, twice, or on an ongoing basis? We would be grateful for anything you can do. Contact us to find out where we most need help.
Thank you! Steve Tilley and Mike Kyer, Adopt-a-Plot leaders
Join the Share the Plate Team!
Share the Plate (STP) is looking for volunteers to help recruit, select, and mentor local non-profit organizations for the 2021 Share the Plate year. STP members serve a one-year term. Most of the work is from July to September. We recruit organizations to apply, then choose six organizations to receive STP donations in 2021, then mentor each group through the process. We’re looking to form an enthusiastic and diverse committee to help choose some outstanding organizations that share our OUUC values and are making a difference to the local community. Contact Bob Brennand by June 30 if you are interested.
Seeking Volunteer Tech Stewards
Are you a person with tech skills who is looking for a way to serve OUUC? The Online Tech Team is looking for new members.
Please reach out to the Online Tech Team lead, Michael Kyer to find out more.
