Waterbury Roar
Volume 1, Issue 19; January 15, 2021
A Roar from our Principal, Dr. Jon Pokora
Welcome Back!
As we conclude our second week of teaching and learning in 2021, I’d like to thank everyone for their hard work with us!
In returning to in-person learning this week, we’ve picked right up and run with it.
As I pop in remote classrooms, I see great things occurring. Foremost, I see great dedication from both teachers and students to ensure student learning is ongoing. It is, also, amazing to see the growth of students in navigating the technology.
As I look forward to the rest of 2021, I see great things being accomplished.
As we begin planning toward trimester 3, Dr. Castillo sent out a communication regarding in-person or remote options. You only need to respond if you wish to change your placement. If you do respond with a change, someone from the office will be reaching out to you shortly.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!

Ms. Stalzer's GOOD NEWS!
Ms. Montiel's son played in his first college basketball game yesterday, and here is his mom cheering him on! There might be no fans in the seats, but there was plenty of excitement in the nurse's office at Waterbury! Check out the article published with more info about this exciting game by clicking on her picture.

Click on Ms. Rasinski's Bitmoji to take you to her virtual office!
A lost and found bin is now located in the office. Please contact Mrs. Carone or Mrs. Cronin if you believe your student has misplaced an item.
Next Friday (January 22nd) is NEON COLORS Day!
It Takes a Community Effort to Help Keep Us Safe
Just a little reminder to follow handwashing, masking, distancing, and self-isolation when necessary in the coming weeks to reduce our community spread as we approach our target hybrid-model return date of January 11. Remember it is extremely important to report all illnesses to the school with a description of your student's symptoms before school starts every day.
Remember to utilize the self-certification cards provided to your student as your drop them off for school.
I am here as a resource for you and a family as we continue to stay healthy during this pandemic. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have.
Thank you for your continued support to help keep our school community safe!

Please continue to adhere to these guidelines:
★ Stay home when appropriate – experiencing new symptoms (including fever, cough, headache, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, congestion, runny nose, fatigue, body aches, loss of taste or small and abdominal pain), exposure to someone who tested positive for COVID-19, or are awaiting COVID-19 test results.
★ Wear a mask and socially distance at all times
★ Practice frequent hand hygiene
★ IT TAKES MULTIPLE LAYERS TO PROTECT AGAINST COVID-19.
I also attached the latest exclusion guide that I am utilizing to make decisions regarding daily attendance in our building. Hopefully, it will offer some insight as to why individuals are asked to stay home for a bit.
