From the Principal's Desk...

some have unknowingly entertained angels

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I have been working on and presenting a comprehensive reflection on all that has been accomplished here at St. John the Baptist School over the past two and a half years. I have shared a “State of the School” power point presentation with our school board, our PTO board and our faculty and staff over the past few weeks. This presentation has been well received, and each of these groups has requested that in some form it would be made available for all of our families to view. We are working on this currently, and we will let you know when it is on our website.

Last week, as a part of our Catholic Schools Week celebrations, we were collecting items and cash donations for the Pregnancy Center West. We received $1,336 and a mountain of needed baby and child items (see pictures). Thank you for your generosity. St. John the Baptist School always responds to the needs of others.

We are in the midst of our principal search process. Our committee members, who have been selected by Fr. Pete and Fr. Kyle, have been reviewing the resumes of candidates. We have received resumes from some great applicants. The committee is planning to conduct interviews later this month. Please pray for the success of this important process.

In the first reading for this coming Friday (Heb. 13: 1-8) which is the Memorial of St. Agatha, Virgin and Martyr, St Paul tells us, “Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels.” We have all had to restrict our interactions with others during this pandemic. What does St. Paul’s challenge and promise to us mean during these very difficult times? How are we continuing to love and to demonstrate hospitality? I believe that the outpouring of generosity last week shows this.

May we continue to build the Kingdom of God through our love and hospitality. May we teach our daughters and sons by what we do even more than what we say. As we hope and pray to see our world begin to return to a more normal reality as we are able to be vaccinated, may we pray for one another. In so doing may we affirm to words of St. Paul; some have unknowingly entertained angels.

Spread the Word...Win a $500 Tuition Credit

***Would you like to be the lucky winner of a $500 tuition credit?

Simply refer a new family to St. John's School (Preschool-8th grade) and upon their official registration, your family's name will be entered into a drawing for the tuition credit. Winners will be announced at our fall Open House in August.

A Heartfelt Thank You!

We are bursting with pride at the unbelievable amount of baby items and cash donations of $1,336.97 our school families collected last week for the school-wide Catholic Schools Week Service Project to benefit Pregnancy Center West. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, including Mrs. Norma Rapien, who hand knitted seven blankets to include with our donations.

Kudos to Ms. Dreyer and her 28 seventh grade homeroom students for collecting $367 in cash donations, many of which came directly from the student’s’ own piggy banks.

Performing Arts Assistant(s) Needed

Amy Eyers, our Performing Arts Leader, is looking for an assistant (or two) to help with rehearsals each week, coordinate volunteers, and help send emails.

St. John's Performing Arts Program (grades 6-8) is a wonderful extra curricular for our students and without additional adult volunteers, it may not be possible to continue the program next year. Ideally, we would like to find someone this year so they could learn a little about how things work and then be able to step in next year.

If interested in becoming a volunteer assistant, please contact Amy Eyers at

Covid Testing Protocol

If you, your child, or someone in your household is being tested for COVID-19, please keep your child or children home from school while waiting for the results.

Please notify the school that this is the reason for their absence on the attendance line.
