Mrs. Carro's Class September 23, 2016

We had a terrific second week! We started a unit on Nursery Rhymes and Fables. We learned the rhymes: Roses are Red, Ring Around the Rosie, Rain, Rain, Go Away, It's Raining, It's Pouring, Jack Be Nimble, Little Jack Horner, Jack and Jill, and Little Miss Muffet. The ability to rhyme words is a very important beginning reading skill. For some family fun, make rhyming words and silly poems together. Check out the link below to a site that includes many ideas for rhyming fun.

During our Fundations lessons, we reviewed t and learned b and f. We also learned two new sight words: I and am. We hope you enjoyed our letter projects (brown bubble wrap bear with buttons and the fish).

We continued our math unit which includes sorting by shape, color and size, counting objects to 5 and writing numerals. Check out our math papers that come home in the folders! Please practice writing the numerals at home. Have your child practice in a tray of rice, shaving cream or salt for a fun sensory activity.

We now have Library every Thursday from 12:50-1:20. It will be a little while before the children will be able to borrow books. When this begins, please keep in mind that the books will need to be returned on Thursdays.

If you are not purchasing or selling the PTSA Save Around Rochester coupon books, please return the whole envelope.

Scholastic book orders are due Monday!

Have a great weekend!
