Pacific Ridge Principal's Update

Week of Monday, March 1st - Friday, March 5th

No Onsite Instruction on Tuesday, March 2nd

Comprehensive Distance Learning Day

Due to the majority of our K-5 staff (teachers, assistants, secretaries, custodians & office staff) getting the 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine next week, we need to be proactive and plan for the potential of a large portion of our staff having symptoms that will prevent them from being able to work on site or even work at all the following day. Common symptoms after the 2nd dose are: fatigue, headache, chills, achy muscles and/or achy joints, and a fever.

On Tuesday, March 2nd, we will have ALL of our students K-5 off site and participating in Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL). We do not have enough substitutes to cover classes if our teachers, assistants, secretaries and custodians come down with symptoms.

***There may also be a chance your child's teacher will be unable to be online teaching due to symptoms. If this happens, your child's teacher will reach out via text or email and assignments will be posted in Seesaw for asynchronous work.

On Thursday, March 4th, we will have our K-3rd graders on site in A & B cohorts will resume.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience as we navigate this challenging time together.

New Pick-Up Procedures for A Cohort Families

AM Cohort A Families,

Thank you for your patience as we work to refine all of our procedures, but especially our drop off & pick up procedure. This is new for all of us and we are working to do this as safely and quickly as possible.

After this morning it is evident we need to make some adjustments to our pick-up procedure. Starting on Thursday, March 4th, we will be staggering for our 11:00 AM parent pick-up.

  • Kinder & 1st Grade families please plan to arrive between 10:55-11:10 for pick-up.
  • 2nd & 3rd Grade families, please plan to arrive between 11:10-11:20 for pick-up.

Baking For Good!

Ahh, the aroma of baking bread. Nothing quite like it!

On Friday, February 26th, the King Arthur “Bake For Good” program zoomed into our 4th and 5th Grade classes for a demonstration of the joyful magic of baking bread. King Arthur’s goals are for students to learn, bake and share.

Our 4th & 5th grade students got busy baking and sharing their loaves of bread with others! Great job puffins!

5th Grade Starbase

Learning to Code

All of our 5th grade students have been participating in a program called Starbase through Camp Rilea via Zoom. Students were taught how to write code to create a game. In their games, they wrote code to make their characters respond to arrow commands (up, down, right, left), change costumes, run from each other, throw objects, respond to a health/life bar, turn a specific direction and more! They also learned how to record and add sound. Students had a lot of fun and learned a lot about coding!

Pacific Ridge Beginning School

Preschool Updates!

Pacific Ridge Beginning School is finally officially opening our doors! We are so excited to be bringing another opportunity for preschool to the families in the Seaside School District. Classes will begin onsite for currently enrolled students on March 8 and new students on March 29. If you have a child who was 3 or 4 on September 1, 2020 they are eligible to attend our program.

If you wish to begin the enrollment process, please click on the link on the flyer below to fill out the screening form. Because our program is partially funded through a Preschool Promise grant, you may be eligible for free or reduced tuition based on your income. All families are asked to begin with the screening form, even if you know you do not qualify for a free or reduced spot in our program.

Please contact the Pacific Ridge school office if you have questions or need assistance completing the screening form.
