We are Family!
In August 2016, we first introduced our house system for fifth – eighth grades. During this time, we have improved this program so much that at least four other diocesan schools have followed our lead.
Since the inception of the house system, as a staff, we have been discussing how to incorporate a portion of the house system to Kindergarten – fourth grade. Over the next few weeks, we will begin implementing a family system to these grades. They will begin by a meet and greet next week to know who is in their family. Each family will consist of students from each grade level. The families will meet with teachers several times during the school year to learn from one another or provide an opportunity for service learning and foster unity.
As a part of this project, K-4 students will be sitting with their “families" during Mass. Sitting together during Mass will allow them to form a bond with each other and help our younger students take on leadership and responsibility roles by being accountable for each other. We ask for parents would like to sit with their children during Mass, please wait until the children are seated with their families. Once they are seated, parents may go to the area where the families are seated and take them to the back to sit. We ask for your patience with this process as we know it will take a bit of time to refine this new seating arrangement.
We are excited to provide another opportunity for our students to bond with each other and truly a part of the Resurrection family.
