We are finally starting to stick to warmer weather - now bring on the rain!
Some exciting and fun things will be happening at the Extension Office here in these next few months.We have some AWESOME workshops planned for this summer. Be sure to check this newsletter often, as new things will be added weekly.

4-H Online Enrollment
Webster County 4-H Rundown
We are excited to have so many new and returning families to Webster County 4-H! It is going to be a FANTASTIC year. Here are some refreshers for you:
- You must be enrolled in 4-H by June 15th (statewide deadline)
- All livestock ID forms, registration papers, and vaccination papers must be turned into the office by June 15th. You may email, mail, or drop off these forms.
- Final entry paper and online forms are due at midnight of June 15th to the office. The online link will be ShoWorks like last year, and will be sent out this month.
- Livestock tags are free and can be picked up at the office. Animals that need tags are market beef, bucket calves, feeder calves, and swine. Scrapies tags only for sheep and goats (must provide yourself). Animals that need tattoos are breeding beef and rabbits.
- Fairbooks are free to Webster County 4-Hers and will be available at the office the month of May. It is first come first serve. An online version will be available as well.
- Entry tags, t-shirts, and back tags will be available to pick up at the fairgrounds the week before fair.

Grace Niemeyer
Grace is the daughter of Daren and Buffy Niemeyer and is a senior student at Hastings High School/Silver Lake High School. Grace has participated in projects like sheep, beef, aerospace, design decisions, cake decorating, unified horse show, quilt quest, food & nutrition, public speaking, and the ice cream roll. She is a member of the 4-B 4-H Club and is a Jr. Leader. Her favorite part about being in 4-H is working with her animals and hanging out with her friends during the fair. Grace will attend the 18+ program in Hastings after graduation until she turns 21. Then she would like to find a find a good job and have a place of her own.
Allie Thallman
Allie is the daughter of Mark and Cheryl Thallman and is a senior student at Blue Hill High School. She has participated in projects such as horse, cat, cooking, sewing, shopping in style, house plants, beyond the needle, and design decisions. She is a member of the Webster County Wranglers 4-H Club and is also a Jr. Leader. Her favorite part of being in 4-H is seeing her hard work pay off when she does well in competitions, especially when her hard work with her horse, Maudie, pays off." Allie plans to attend Creighton University and major in Environmental Science with Pre-Law Track.
Poultry Shows
YQCA
The new YQCA program is up and running! Thank you all for your patience with the shutdown and change. For the youth who have completed YQCA already this year and plan to go to state fair or AKSARBEN, you will need to go into the new system, create an account, and upload your certificate from this year that you completed. - May 23rd – Adams County Extension Office at 1:00 pm (New Date & Time)
- May 24th – Webster County Fairgrounds at 1:00 pm (New Date & Time)
- June 7th – Adams County Extension Office at 6 pm (Original Date & Time)
- June 9th – Webster County Fairgrounds at 6 pm (Original Date & Time
*For in-person trainings, please ask the office for the code to waver the fee. Online trainings are $12 and codes are not valid.
This training is for 4-Hers that show livestock (beef, sheep, pig, goat, poultry, and rabbit) this year at county and/or state fair and is 4-H age 8 or older. This must be completed by June 15th.

4-H Horse Levels
As of 2020 for Webster County, levels for the county 4-H horse show are recommended, but not mandatory for level 1. If you are participating at districts or state, all other levels must be completed by the time ID sheets are due (May 6th). All other levels and ID sheets for county only may be completed by June 15th.

Webster County Youth Council is now sponsoring 10 youth at $100 each to attend. You must show completed registration of the camp. First come, first serve.

Beth Janning
4-H Youth Development Extension Educator in Adams/Webster Counties
Beth Janning is a 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator. She provides programming in school enrichment, after-school, and traditional 4-H Programs. Her topic areas include but not limited to animal science, science, engineering and volunteer development.

Dr. Lindsay Waechter-Mead
Beef Systems Educator, DVM
Lindsay Waechter-Mead is the new Beef Systems Educator in Webster County and serves surrounding counties in this region. She is excited to bring her interests surrounding cow/calf health and preventative medicine to the Beef Team. Her current work involves looking at environmental effects on neonatal calf immunity and colostral transfer. She is also passionate about rural agriculture and what the veterinary profession can do to positively influence rural communities to ensure that generations can continue to enjoy the life that she loves.
