Snacks
Just a reminder that students need to pack a snack every day. Appropriate snack items include things such as: Pretzels, Fruits, Vegetables, Fruit Snacks. Please do not pack messy finger foods, candy, peanut products, foods that need to be eaten with a fork or spoon, or sugary drinks.
Math Facts
Please continue to encourage your child to practice their math facts for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. These are very important skills for third graders.
πBook Talks
Book talks are a wonderful way for you and your child to discover new types of literature. The time you spend doing this will greatly improve your childβs lifelong interest in reading.
π Curriculum Corner
Math βοΈβ
Students are continuing to build their understanding of area in Module 4 this month. Students will explore area as an attribute of two-dimensional figures and relate it to their prior understanding of multiplication and arrays.
Reading π
Students will continue to explore severe weather in reading. Later in the month, students will enter a new unit and explore the essential question: What helps us solve problems? Students will read and compare folktales from around the world to analyze how characters solve problems. Students will focus on identifying key details and comparing and contrasting text details. Also, students will continue using context clues to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words in text.
Writing βοΈ
Students will continue their work on their informative report. They will continue to read several texts about climate and weather, and then write about a weather topic of their choice.
Social Studies π
Students will compare elements of culture and examine how people from different cultures meet their needs.
