Principal's Message

I hope that everyone had a wonderful break and a very Happy New Year. As we ended 2015, we had some very exciting awards presented to members of the GHS community. First, GHS student Morgan Phelps entered the PTSA Reflections contest and her visual arts project has been chosen to represent GHS and GCISD at the state level. Two of our Coaches were presented with season ending awards. Football Coach Randy Jackson, was presented with the Tom Landry Coaching Award by FCA and CBS Channel 11 for character and leadership attributes on and off the field. Cross Country Coach Rick Miller was named the State of Texas 5A Girl's Cross Country coach of the year. Finally our GHS Counseling Department was awarded the Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas (CREST) award. This award is sponsored by the Texas School Counselor Association. Schools receiving the CREST award have demonstrated a commitment using the school guidance and counseling program to improve the lives and achievement of students in academic, career, and personal social domains.

We look forward to continuing our successful school year as we move into 2016.

Information About PSAT Scores

With the redesign of the PSAT that was administered this fall, scores are being made available to campuses later than they have been previously available.

The new score availability window has electronic scores for students starting January 7th. The campuses will then receive paper scores around January 29th. In order for students to have access to their online scores, they will need to create an account with College Board. Students may already have an account if they have created one for previous tests through AP, PSAT/NMSQT, CLEP or BigFuture. If you need to create an account, please use this link: https://account.collegeboard.org/iamweb/smartRegister?appId=319&affiliateId=arupnssr&bannerId=cbacct&DURL=https%3A//collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/scores

Student test books will be returned to students through their English classes after paper scores are received by the school.

National Honor Society Information

Juniors need to start getting documented service hours if they plan to join National Honor Society in the spring of their junior year. Your son or daughter can donate their time to any non-profit organization that is not school-related. Nonprofit groups you can consider are: GRACE, Grapevine Public Library, Baylor Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross, National Charity League, Grapevine Historic Society, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, nursing homes, etc… They should also begin trying to gain leadership hours that can be documented.
