Supt Update - Brad Gudme
Memphis Community Schools recently honored the retirement of Nancy Thomson by naming the walking track at the Elementary School after her. Nancy worked as a Teacher, Principal and Superintendent during her 40 years at Memphis. She is and will continue to be an icon of our district. Her passion and dedication to Memphis cannot be matched by any individual. Her legacy includes the 5th Grade Camp, bringing AYSO to Memphis, coordinating the Memphis Elementary Running Club, the passing of multiple district bond and millage elections, and countless district academic initiatives, programs and awards. Thank You Mrs. Thomson for everything you have done and continue to do for our District and Community.
Jr/Sr HS Principal - Matt Karaffa
All Memphis Sophomores took part in Manufacturing Day on Oct. 6th and visited Witco Industries in Avoca. This is the 4th year that all St. Clair County 10th grade students have had an opportunity to visit some of our local businesses to learn more about manufacturing and all the different jobs within this field.
The PSAT was given to all 11th grade students on October 11th. This test is used to qualify students for the National Merit Scholarships and also as a practice test to the SAT given in April. We look forward to getting the results in November and sharing them with all student, families and staff.
Elementary Principal - Susan Hankins
Thank you to all the Family and Community Support for this Year’s Elementary Pumpkin Fund Run. Despite the cold and rainy weather this year’s event raised $5,600. All proceeds are used to help fund field trips and for student needs throughout the year.
We are off to an amazing start of the year with our new PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports) initiative. Be sure to ask your students about all the great things happening with this program.
