Overdrive Challenge!!!
Y’all are doing an amazing job using and promoting Overdrive! Right now, we have the highest number of Overdrive checkouts out of all the NEISD middle schools. We have been challenged to make it into the top 10, and we are 3 spots away. Keep on checking out and promoting Overdrive. March Highlights
New Computer Tables and Chairs!
Before...
We only had 6 mix-matched tables and very few chairs for library instruction. In our computer area, our tables were so big and bulky that it was nearly impossible to walk through rows and access all of the computers. Exposed computer cords and wires were a tripping hazard and just plain ugly!
After...
Now, we have 14 tables and plenty of chairs for library instruction. They are all uniform and beautiful! Our awesome new computer tables and chairs are AMAZING!!! They provide coverage for cords, and their thin design gives us more room to move. With the new furniture, our library has become a more welcoming space. There is more room for everyone and an increase in access to our resources.
New Wall Decorations
Gone are those bare walls! We now have welcoming decorations that promote reading and advertise all of the fun events going on at both our library and the Molly Pruitt Library.
Read Across America Celebrations!
In honor of National Read Across America Day, we held a week long celebration to promote reading. We held a drawing for the most books checked out, displayed books by genre and covered some up to promote trying something new, and offered lessons on using Overdrive. What a great week!
Researching Countries using CultureGrams
Our Spanish classes used the electronic database, CultureGrams, to explore and learn about different Spanish-Speaking countries. The activity of the day was listening and dancing to national anthems :)
