School Board Recognizes Retiring Staff
Diane Ferron
After 36 years of teaching young learners to get excited about reading, solving word problems, playing math games, and making scientific discoveries second-grade teacher Diane Ferron is closing this chapter of her life to begin a new one in Evans, Ga., where she looks forward to relaxing and playing golf year-round.
Mrs. Ferron began her District 103 career in August 2002 after teaching 15 years in Ohio.
“I will miss the friends that I have made throughout the years at Sprague and across the district. I will always enjoy the memory of seeing the bright, sparkling faces walking down the hallway greeting me each morning. I will especially miss the "aha" moments when a child's face lights up when they understand a new concept!" she said.
Gayle Larcom
Since 2013 Gayle Larcom has worked supportively with the District 103 special education team as Sprague’s occupational therapy assistant. But after 25 years in education, Mrs. Larcom also worked in Grayslake D46, she said it’s time to retire.
“I will miss seeing students and staff every day and being part of a collaborative team,” she said. Still, she said she is proud of the work she has done at Sprague and for helping to start the Zones of Regulation and Ready Body Learning Mind programs at the school.
What Mrs. Larcom won’t miss is checking her email several times a day and having to schedule her vacations and activities around weekends.
