- On August 6, 1945 an American B-29 bomber (Enola Gay) dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima
- The bomb named "Little Boy" deminished 90% of the city and instantaniously killed 80,000
- Bomb was more than 9.000 pounds and destroyed five square miles of Hiroshima

- Sadako was 2 years old when the atom bomb was dropped in Hiroshima
- At the end of November in the year 1954, she started developing lumps on her neck/face and was diagnosed with Leukemia
- Sadako folded 1000 cranes while sick in the hospital in hopes of being granted a wish
- Dies October 25, 1955
1000 Cranes of Hope
- The ancient Japanese tradition of senbazuru promises that a person who folds 1000 cranes will be granted a wish
- 1000 COH contains the collective wishes of patients, caregivers, healthcare providers
- This usually refers to cancer patients
