  • On August 6, 1945 an American B-29 bomber (Enola Gay) dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima
  • The bomb named "Little Boy" deminished 90% of the city and instantaniously killed 80,000
  • Bomb was more than 9.000 pounds and destroyed five square miles of Hiroshima

Story of the Peace Crane

  • Sadako was 2 years old when the atom bomb was dropped in Hiroshima
  • At the end of November in the year 1954, she started developing lumps on her neck/face and was diagnosed with Leukemia
  • Sadako folded 1000 cranes while sick in the hospital in hopes of being granted a wish
  • Dies October 25, 1955

1000 Cranes of Hope

  • The ancient Japanese tradition of senbazuru promises that a person who folds 1000 cranes will be granted a wish
  • 1000 COH contains the collective wishes of patients, caregivers, healthcare providers
  • This usually refers to cancer patients
