The Energy Bus!
April Week 1
The month of April has students reviewing principles for the Energy Bus. Principle 1 asks our students to answer what are some ways that you have taken charge and been the driver of your bus? What steps are you taking now towards your vision and purpose?
In order to gain community culture, staff can have students write notes to recognize and encourage other students on becoming the driver of their bus and taking steps to fulfill their vision. Staff can print and hand out the attached "Fuel Your Ride" tickets for students to hand out when other students are doing good around campus or being the driver of their bus.
Shout Outs - Submitted by RHS Staff Members
I would like to give a shout out to the EC Dept. They are always willing to step up and cover meetings for others if someone is out sick or having to give a test to students. They never complain they just get it done despite all of the changes we have been through. Very proud of the leadership shown this year! Proud of all of them!
Just wanted to throw a SHOUT OUT to everyone TODAY. I appreciate the work you have been doing with attendance. Marking students TARDY for 1st period has always been a struggle but TODAY, you ROCKED...Keep marking those ABSENCES correctly. Your work does not go unnoticed.
Keep up with RHS happenings
There is also a RHS staff only calendar in Outlook. You'll find important dates, meetings, testing information, etc. Click on the calendar Icon at the bottom left of Outlook, then look for the Staff Calendar on the left.

School Social Worker News - From Ms. Harmon
Last week, the Interact Club collected 2,639 pudding cups for CHEW. This would not have been possible without our wonderful parents, students and teachers. CHEW uses approx. 200 pudding cups a week. Your donations will supply pudding cups for over 3 months. Way to go RHS!
I am happy to announce that Ms. Dunn's third period class collected 608 pudding cups. Her class won Dairy Queen gift certificates valued at $5 for each student in the class. Congratulations, Ms Dunn's class!!

OCS Weekly Update
RHS STADIUM NAMED AFTER BROCK RIDGE
On Tuesday night, longtime Richlands educator and former BOE Vice Chair Brock Ridge got a huge surprise from Richlands High School and the community.
As Mr. Ridge walked up to the RHS stadium for what he thought would be a normal girls’ soccer game, he saw his name above the scoreboard of the stadium he had visited countless times before.
During a ceremony to officially mark the naming of "Brock Ridge Stadium,” current RHS Principal Brad Staley said, “Tonight, our community is coming together to honor the lifetime service and commitment to the students of Richlands High School, and all of the students of Onslow County Schools, of Mr. Brock Ridge, who served here for many, many years as a teacher and an administrator.”
You can see a video from the official naming ceremony here.
UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN CELEBRATION
At the United Way of Onslow County Campaign Celebration on March 20, two Onslow County Schools employees were recognized for their contributions to the campaign.
Ms. Lacy VanDalen, a teacher at Southwest Middle School, won the United Way car giveaway sponsored by Marine Chevrolet Cadillac. To be eligible, one had to pledge a minimum donation to the campaign, which supports the Onslow County community.
In other exciting news, Ms. Angela Williams, a 3rd grade teacher at Heritage Elementary, was named Campaign Coordinator of the Year for her hard work and dedication to collecting and organizing pledges at her school.
Congratulations to both Ms. VanDalen and Ms. Williams, and thank you to all OCS teachers and staff for supporting our community through United Way, even after a challenging year. With your help, OCS received the honor of being in the Circle of Excellence for coming together and raising a total of $128,955!
