Class of 2021 Senior Updates

Class of 2021 Updates

Hello Lake Fenton Senior Families,

As the year is winding down, there are plenty of activities still left for our seniors to participate in before they graduate. This newsletter includes many important updates and details that will help your senior make the best of their last two months. One big update that I want all our senior families to be aware of, is that LFHS graduation will take place at our very own Sports Complex on our LFHS Football Field. We will still hold our ceremony on June 6th -- but at 5:00PM. If there is a light rain delay, we will hold it closer to 7:00PM. Our alternative for large rain delays will be Monday, June 7th at 5:00PM. Let's hope for good weather!

Many more details can be found below on items like our senior formal, yard signs, and awards night. As always, we are here to help answer your questions by calling our office at (810)591-9591.

It has been truly awesome watching the Class of 2021 grow into Blue Devil leaders!

Proud Principal,

Graduation Ceremony June 6th, 2021

Because of limited capacity at The Whiting, we will be holding our graduation ceremony at our very own Lake Fenton High School Sports Complex on the Football Field. All graduates will be seated on the field along with staging for all esteemed guests. Each senior will be given 6 tickets for families to attend in the stadium seats. Due to current restrictions, we are asking all families to maintain as much distance from each other as possible and must wear masks at all times. Tickets will be available at graduation practice to all seniors.

Our ceremony will take place at the first sign of good weather on the football field, starting at 11:00AM. In case of any light weather delay, the ceremony may be moved later in the day, anywhere between 11:00AM and 7:00PM. In case of any severe weather delay, it will be moved to the following evening on Monday, June 7th at 5:00PM.

Any additional details will be shared with families as we get closer to our graduation date.

Senior Awards May 12th, 2021 at 7:00PM

For seniors receiving awards and accolades, we will hold our Awards Ceremony in the high school auditorium at 7:00PM. All seniors receiving awards will be seated on the stage. Because of our social distance capacity restrictions for indoor seating, each senior receiving awards will be given two assigned seats for parents or guardians. We will be sending invites for this soon and parents will be able to contact Tawna Martello at to reserve seats for this event. We will also record this evening for those not in attendance.

Senior Barbecue and Reverse Parade May 21, 2021 at 4:00PM

On Friday, May 21st we would like to celebrate our seniors by hosting an outdoor event in our athletic complex. All seniors will be invited to attend an outdoor cookout with barbecue and music starting at 4:00PM. Then at 6:00PM, we would like to invite anyone in the community to drive through our parking lot where all seniors will be housed to wish them well. It will be a "reverse parade" where the seniors will stay put and our community members will drive through to wave, honk and wish them lots of good fortune in their future endeavors. Seniors can bring a lawn chair and signs to showcase the college or trade school they are headed to for our community to see what they have planned. Please plan to attend this fun event between 6:00PM and 7:00PM in our high school parking lot. All participants will be asked to enter through the Lahring Road entrance and exit through our Jennings road exit.

A Note from Your Senior Class Advisor

Hello Seniors and LF Families,

As your class advisor, I am very excited to be working with our district leaders to provide you with the BEST POSSIBLE finish to your high school career. More information regarding graduation and other such important events will be forthcoming in a newsletter from Ms. VanHouten.

In this email, I want to make you aware of two important and exciting things – your class tee shirt and the district-sponsored Senior Banquet planned for May 1.

  • Unless you are a virtual student, your English teacher should have already provided you with a link to a Google Order Form for your class tee shirt. So far, I only have 37 responses, so I wanted to make sure everyone knew how to receive their shirt. Follow this link to see the shirt design and to order your shirt: Tee Shirt Order Form

After you order your shirt and request the appropriate size, please bring your payment of $12 to Mrs. Hillis in room B207. Cash or a check written to Lake Fenton Schools are both acceptable. If necessary, you may leave the money to my attention in the high school main office. I need all monies by April 26 at the latest in order to process the order in time for your departure from these hallowed halls.

  • Next up – Senior Banquet!!! We are so very sorry that your senior prom had to be cancelled. We would like to offer another event that is compliant with all current State of Michigan protocols regarding social gatherings. We are aware that there is another non-district event being planned, but please join us AS WELL on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 6:30 – 9:00.

We are pleased to invite you to our high school Commons for a “mingle magic” comedy and magic show by the Philip and Henry Group. Please consider this as yet another opportunity to dress up and spend some quality time with your classmates. The cost is $35, and we invite you to arrive at 6:30PM for an outdoor red carpet ceremony before entering the building for dinner and entertainment. Parents are welcome for the outdoor red carpet ceremony. We anticipate the festivities will conclude by 9:00.

Apparel can be black tie or cocktail. Think of it as a fun way to get more wear from your prom gear! Or, take it down a notch and simply wear a cocktail/party dress and/or a simple suit. You decide. Please join us. Let us honor you in the best way we can. Tickets will be on sale through April 26 during lunches or through Mrs. Hillis in room B207.
