Happy Mother's Day!

This week we are not only celebrating our fantastic teachers, but Mother's Day as well. We would like to wish all of the mothers, moms-to-be, stepmothers, Godmothers, grandmothers, and mothers-at-heart a special, wonderful day! It seems only fitting that Mother's Day falls during Teacher Appreciation Week, since we know and appreciate the fact that YOU are your child's first teacher and will continue to guide and educate them no matter what grade they are in. Thank you for all that you do!

We would also like to extend special wishes to some of our staff and faculty who became new moms this school year! A very happy "First Mother's Day" to the following new moms and their babies: Mrs. Chludzinski (Carter James); Mrs. Nelson (Jeffrey Scott), Mrs. Carvalho (Aiden Joseph and Grayson Elliot); Ms. Fischer (Kelsey Taylor), and Mrs. Migliore (Elijah Louis)!

Thank You, Teachers!

This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week! There are really no words to describe how grateful we are for all that our teachers do here at LHS. They don't simply teach our students, they encourage them, mentor them, influence them, challenge them, guide, and inspire them on a daily basis. Students, please take the time to thank your teachers for their dedication to you. They truly do care about helping you grow as individuals, and their lessons will stay with you long after you leave these halls!

National Honor Society Inductees

On Thursday, April 28th, 45 juniors were inducted into the Lawrence High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. Membership in NHS is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student, who must demonstrate superior qualities such as exemplary scholarship (3.75 GPA or above), leadership, service, and character. NHS recognizes "the total student," one who excels in all of these areas. Dr. Chris Woolley, former LTPS principal and district administrator, spoke about what it means to live up to these qualities on a daily basis in contemporary society, and current NHS officers helped pass the torch onto their peers. Congratulations, students!

The LHS chapter of the National Honor Society is advised by Ann Hertzog and Camille Mallon.

DECA: National Champs!

Over 17,000 emerging leaders and entrepreneurs attended DECA's annual International Career Development Conference in Nashville, TN, in April, including the LHS chapter of DECA. Our very own Cardinals earned the highest honors, winning first place in the world!

Anjali Agawal and Aanchal Aich grabbed the top spot at the conference with their project (Business Services Operation Research), where state and provincial winners engaged in the final round of competition. Over $500,000 in awards and scholarships were presented to students and teachers for their remarkable achievements.

Congratulations to Anjali, Aanchal, and all of the members of LHS DECA, as well as its fearless advisor, Mrs. Schneck!

"United in One Nest"

The LHS track team designed the banner in this picture and had their classmates, faculty, staff, and administration sign it. They then presented the banner to the Robbinsville track team before their recent track meet. Robbinsville athletes and coaches were impressed and appreciative of our student-athletes' kind gesture while they struggle with the tragedy that struck their community last month.

Take Your Child to Work Day

On Thursday, April 28th, LHS welcomed over 30 pint-sized guests for Take Your Child to Work Day! Our little helpers not only assisted staff and teachers throughout the building, but also had a lot of fun learning about what it's like to work in the world of education! Guests also took part in some fun festivities, creating buttons, turning pennies into gold, making homemade ice cream, feeding the ducks and fish, enjoying lunch, and more!
