From the desk of Mrs. Anderson
Dear Gold Academy Families:
I hope this edition of the Golden Gazette finds all of you healthy! We certainly do miss seeing
our students each day. We are proud of all of their hard work. It takes a team to overcome
these challenging times. With the dedication of the staff, students, and parents, we are seeing
great things happening through eLearning!
As a reminder, we will keep everyone updated on the procedures and timeframe of picking up
students’ personal belongings, spring pictures, and yearbooks. Another reminder is the last day of food distribution will be Monday, May 18th. I want to give a huge shout-out to our Child
Nutrition Department for all of their work to ensure that our students are provided with lunch and breakfast items!
Thank you again for your diligence in assisting your children with eLearning! As Walter Payton
stated, “We are stronger together than we are alone.” This sense of team will have a positive
impact on our students as we continue to create opportunities for them to become “Tomorrow Ready!”
Stay safe and healthy!

Social Emotional Learning
During this stressful time due to COVID-19, it is important to keep open communication with children. You can help by discussing emotions openly and and helping your child to name his/her feelings as your problem-solve together. Here are some strategies for calming down for different age groups that students have learned at school through the Second Step social-emotional curriculum.

Also, the Mindyeti Videos linked here can help children to relax and focus when necessary.
Kindergarten Registration
It is time to begin the registration process for the 2020-2021 school year at Liberty!
Our previously scheduled Spring Registration Day (April 22nd) has been postponed, but you may complete Phase I of registration from home. Complete the online portion of the registration process.
Phase II will be scheduled once buildings reopen, which includes additional paperwork and collection of documents (birth certificate, immunization record, proof of residency and parent's picture ID). Your child will be registered once both Phase I and Phase II are completed.
In order to register for Kindergarten your child must turn five (5) years old by August 1. If your child will not be five by August 1, you may request an early entrance assessment by emailing acummings@decaturproud.org. You may not complete registration without approval.
At this time, we are only registering returning students for preschool. Parents of returning preschoolers may complete Phase I registration, as well.
If your child has not been enrolled in our preschool prior to the upcoming school year please email smeier@decaturproud.org to request enrollment for your child. You will not be able to complete registration without prior approval for preschool.
