Flying Pig Race Info (Team Maple Dale)

Earlier this week during lunch, the flying pig mascot visited with the kids at Maple Dale. The kids have the opportunity to participate with the Flying Pig event by signing up for a Maple Dale team! All kids signed up with Maple Dale will receive a team t-shirt for the event if registered by the deadline of March 19th, 2019. Parents are responsible for their own transportation to/from event. I know Kindergartners do not participate in Milers, but if they would like to run they are more than welcome - provided parents register and provide transportation to/from the event.

The two events we expect enthusiastic participation in and allow you to enroll on the Maple Dale team are:

  1. Kid's Marathon 26th Mile (for kids who are close to doing a full marathon due to participating in Milers for the fall and/or spring sessions): Please email Jessica Allison at jessie0603@yahoo.com to ask if your child is close to the 26 mile mark. Even if your child is not close to the 26th mile, it's fine if they are comfortable running a mile and they will receive a medal at the end of completing the one mile run. (Date: 5/4 @ 12 pm)
  2. Flying Pig 5K (Date: 5/4 @ 10 am)

Please register for an account with raceroster.com, and after creating the account, sign in and click on the "Register" link on the left hand side of the page. In the section where it asks about Relay Teams | Youth Program Groups, please select the option "Yes, I am participating on one of the above Teams/Groups". Two drop-down menus will appear after making that selection. Please select "Youth Programs" and then select "Maple Dale Elementary" from the two drop down menus that appear.

Student Information for Classroom Placement for Current Kindergartners through 3rd Graders!

The placement of students each year is a task that our staff takes very seriously. Please click here to complete this optional form. This form is optional for parents. While considering your child’s learning characteristics and social interaction style, your child’s current teachers are carefully placing your child in a friendly, collaborative group with other children with whom he/she works well. If you would like your child to be placed with a specific peer, please complete the form below. Every effort will be made to place your child with one of the students listed below. Please list six names to ensure a classroom placement with a peer. If fewer than six names are provided, the likelihood of your child being placed with a peer listed is decreased.

Please complete by April 19, 2019.

Welcome to Greene Intermediate School! We are looking forward to the arrival of your child in the fall. Below is a link to a letter that explains our placement process. Within the letter you will find the link to our Student Information Form. This form will be used to place students on teams. Please submit the form no later than Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 11:59 pm.

GEAR Bookworms "Pizza School" - March 25th

All K-2 students and their parents are invited to come back to “Pizza School” after Spring Break! Join us at the Harper’s Point Dewey’s Pizza from 5-7PM on Monday, March 25th to enjoy the book, Pizza! An Interactive Recipe Book by Lottie Nieminen, and make personalized pizzas. Please RSVP (using the link below) by Monday, March 18th.

Volunteers Needed - COPE

Sycamore Community Schools is seeking Adult Volunteers

April 22nd - Professional Development Day

The certified staff of Sycamore Community Schools will be participating in a professional learning activity called “Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE)” led by facilitators from Think Tank Inc. on April 22nd. The purpose of the activity is to engage our staff in authentic, empathy-building experiences to better understand the daily struggles some of our families may experience as a result of economic fatigue.

Each session will include 120 staff participants. We are in need of 20 volunteers (COPE Resource Leaders) for each session to “role play” various community and business members. As a COPE Resource Leader, you will be given your role by the COPE facilitator during training. Training will be provided in the first hour of the volunteer shift. The time commitment will be approximately 3-1/2 hours. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide babysitting services on this day, therefore volunteers are asked not to bring their children along.

Morning Session: 7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Junior High Gym and High School Gym

Afternoon Session: 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Greene Gym and Maple Dale Gym
