A Focus on Student Media Use in 3rd - 8th Grade Classrooms

Preparing students with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to critically engage in civic reasoning and discourse in the media.

Join us for this two-day, in-person workshop to learn more about teaching media literacy in the 3rd-8th grade classroom. Participants will learn key media literacy skills and receive resources focused on teaching students skills for responsible media consumption for civic engagement. There will be embedded time for collaboration and planning for integrating media literacy instruction. Teachers will learn from experts and practitioners and build community to deepen their knowledge and ability of how to implement media literacy into the classroom.


Teachers will learn actionable activities for elementary and middle school classrooms, including:


  • analyzing the credibility of a source

  • curating your feed
  • understanding algorithms
