Another Year in the Books!
Farewell to Mrs. Divver, Hello to Mr. Carter!!
Since 2009, Mrs. Divver & Mr. Carter have been Co-Advisors to the Crimson Post. Over the years, we’ve changed the newspaper’s name (twice), the format (paper to online), added social media, participated in conferences for NESPA, brought home numerous awards for the paper and individual writers, and had the pleasure of working with great student writers and editors.
Next year will be Mr. Carter’s solo Newspaper Advisor year, and great things are planned, but not only for the paper! Mrs. Divver is retiring, after 20 years as the MS/HS Librarian, 5 years as the CFB Library Aide, 2 years as a sub and another 10 as a library volunteer and Mr. Carter will be moving into the library as the School Library teacher.
So it’s a big thank you to Mrs. Divver for the many many years of service to our staff and students, and a warm welcome to Mr Carter. Catch him in the library office or in the stacks! Good luck to all!
More Retirement Congratulations

Summer School Credit Recovery Information 2022
Failure of a course in the 55-59% range during the academic year may be made up with a grade of 70 or better in a (30) hour night or summer course during the summer immediately following failure.
Summer courses must be approved by Mr. Awdycki, Principal, prior to registration if credit is to be granted. Parents and students are responsible for finding suitable course offerings and all costs relating to summer school. To request approval, please complete the MHS 2022 Summer School Approval Form.
There are three options for summer school:
- This year, Millis High School has partnered with Educere as one option for your student to take summer school courses. Educere provides online courses for credit recovery and handles all the registrations and details of the classes. We’ve approved a list of courses available through Educere that will meet Millis High School standards for summer school. To register for summer school classes through Educere, please use the following link.https://sis.edtell.com/program/?pageID=10730.21998
- Bellingham High School is offering in-person summer school classes. For more information and directions for how to register, please visit: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1S8XjicVfUdTnoYYI10B_KUvzxkTOH1zsGL4fdVN-AQk/edit?usp=sharing--
- Framingham High School is offering in-person summer school classes. For more information and registration, please visit: https://www.framingham.k12.ma.us/Page/8304
Summer Reading
During the month of June, students entering grades 9-12 were asked to choose one book out of a group of nearly 30 staff selected works, and registered for their choice. Some books will have Google Classrooms created or other forms of communication for potential projects, assignments, resources, or opportunities. At a date to be determined during the second week of the 2022-23 school year, students will report to a classroom for their particular book. There, students will meet the teacher who read that book and will participate in—among other possibilities—a discussion and/or exam on the book. The grade on that assessment will be entered as a test grade in the student’s English class.
Students must obtain their own copy of the book and are encouraged to take ample notes. Books may be brought into school on Summer Reading Day, but it’s up to the teacher’s discretion whether or not to allow books or notes to be used during the assessment.

Last Chance - Vision of a Graduate - We Need Your Input!
We’re seeking YOUR input on our school community-driven Vision of a Graduate. What values, knowledge, skills and work habits do our students need to thrive as learners, workers and leaders of the 21st Century?
The Vision of a Graduate is the first step in framing a new vision for our school system. It is a reimagined Core Values and Beliefs and a promise the school is making to all students. It is what Millis High School graduates need to know and are able to DO in order to succeed in college, career and life.
Please take this short survey to give your input and help positively impact the students in Millis. The results will help shape our strategic plan, which will guide our educational system for years to come!
The deadline to complete the survey is today, Friday, June 10. Thank you!

Meet The Crimson Post’s New Editor, Maddie Miga!
We are pleased to announce that junior Maddie Miga will be the Editor for the Crimson Post in 2022-23. Maddie has been on staff since freshman year, and has been the newspaper’s (and the library’s) ‘social media’ contact for the past two years. In addition to covering many of their feature articles, Maddie is also involved in Terpsichore, Chem Club, Leo’s, and Peer Leaders. Welcome and thank you!
Over the past year, freshmen Annie Rollag and Kaitlyn Richards have been staff writers extraordinaire. They meet challenges, deadlines, and articles with ease. The Newspaper is proud of their achievements and pleased to have them on staff.

Memorial Day in Millis
For the Millis Memorial Day celebration, the MHS Band attended ceremonies, playing a number of traditional songs. The band included seniors Lucas Comiskey, Leith Jehu, Jonah Stapels, as well as alumna Dory Stefanowicz.
Under Mrs. Norton’s direction, they began the services with the Star Spangled Banner, and continued throughout the program with the Battle Hymn of the Republic and America the Beautiful. Dory also accompanied the taps.

MCAS Biology for Grade 9 Students - June 7 & 8
Freshmen will be taking the MCAS Biology exam on June 7 & 8. This exam is sponsored by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), and is part of the competency determination required for students to graduate from Millis High School. In sophomore year, students take MCAS exams in English Language Arts and Math. All MCAS exams are now computer based.
The MCAS Biology tests will begin promptly at 8am each day, and student classroom assignments will be posted throughout the building (they will also been emailed to the students). Students should come in with their ChromeBooks fully charged each day. Though students have the entire school day to complete testing, each day of testing typically takes 2-3 hours.
Parents/Guardians are asked to make sure their students get a good night's sleep before each exam day, have a good breakfast, and get to school on time each day. We are confident that our students are well-prepared to be successful on these important exams. Thanks to parents/guardians for their support in helping students clear this graduation hurdle. Good luck to our 9th grade students as they take their MCAS Biology Exams on June 7-8!

The Mohawk Council Field Trip
The Mohawk Council recently took a field trip to Plimoth Patuxet. The purpose of the trip was for students to gain a better understanding and appreciation of indigenous people. Students participated in a workshop called "Wampum and Trans-Indigenous Trade Networks". In this workshop, students learned all about wampum, beads crafted by the Wampanoag and other Atlantic indigenous communities using quahog shells. Students examined how the beads were used as decorative and storytelling tools by the Wampanoag people and then used tools to create a piece of wampum to take home! The trip concluded with a tour of Plimoth Patuxet. A big thanks to M.E.R.I.T. for helping fund the trip!
